Can't get much speed with .22 Creed 88 eld's

Just put together a .22 Creedmoor 1-7" @ 21" bbl. I have the 75 eld's going 3,475 with RL 26. I figured I'd play with the 88's and 26, but velocity kinda hit a wall at 3,150 and then hit pressure. Shot some great groups, but I was a bit surprised they weren't running 3,200 ish at least.

Switched to RL 16 and hit the same wall at 3,150 and pressured out.

Thoughts?

My 20" barrel doesn't like any loads with RL 26. You might try a different powder.
I'm getting 3400 fps with H4350 with 75 gr A-max's,but that's what I mainly shoot out of mine.

That's about right for a 21" barrel. You could add about 150+ fps for another 5" of barrel. The 88s at 3300 would be about right for a standard 22 Creedmoor. Could try maybe the RE 23 and see if you pick up any speed. I'd say max for that cartridge would be 3400.

If you don’t mind me asking how much are you using?

I have a 20” 22-250 AI on the way and was hoping for 3300 with H4350 or 17.

3300 with the 75s or with the 88s? I can tell you for certain you will not get there with 88s. I dont think you can get to 3300 with 88's in a 30" tube without some pressure problems but you could get close. The 22250AI is about 1-2gr short of the 22 creed in capacity, sorry I dont remember the exact number, so it will be a bit slower.

The question was in reference your post regarding 75s

Thank you!

30" 22-250 AI and getting 3550 easily with zero pressure with 80 elds. 30" is alot different than 20".

I've seen where Copper Creek has the 88's going 3,350 in a 24" bbl so I figured 3,200 ish shouldn't be that difficult.

I do think it interesting that the 75's will haul so much ass with a slow powder like 26 and the 88's would not.

Ditto on guessing barrel length. We re getting easy 3250 with 88 s in both 22 Creed and 22-250 AI ... but, both have 26" barrels.

What kind of primers are you using?
30 fps per inch might be part of the problem with a slow powder.
Try something in-between like RL23
What was this build going to be used for?
Otherwise, shoot the 75's and be happy
