The Blame Game.....

Doesn't a Barrel Maker, Gunsmith, Parts manufacturer, Optics Manufacturer etc. Deserve a chance to inspect any suspect part or work performed for flaws or problems before Posters gripe all over the forums about perceived problems? I tell everyone we work for that we are human and make mistakes. Our creed is "If it shoots great tell everyone if it doesn't TELL ME!" Seen too many shooters that were quick to overlook their personal lack of experience and or ability, cuss a rifle that was far superior to their skill set. Usually because the former having been exposed caused them a bad case of red face at the local range. Everyone wants to share their experience with a particular Barrel maker Gunsmith etc. by casting a suspect light on their customer service practices prior to notifying them of the problem actual or not. If there is a problem quietly let the builder know, be polite despite any frustration, and I will betcha you will get prompt attention and a fast solution to your problem. Raising Hell publicly serves neither party well. Not had this problem myself but have seen way too many excellent smiths. barrel makers and optic companies thrown under the bus in recent months as well as today!

I agree. I am not a mechanical engineer. I don't understand enough about the physics behind building a firearm or ballistics to make an accurate determination about much.

That said, I do see the allure of hopping online and bashing a vendor, builder or manufacturer. A good/simple example... If someone adds a new scope that doesn't hold zero, its pretty easy for someone to make assumptions that the scope is bad. A lot of people don't understand how recoil bars work (for rail mounts), don't torque down mounts or ring bolts to proper specs, etc. While there are literally a dozen or more things that can cause a weapon to fail to hold zero, all the buyer knows is they put a new scope on and now it doesn't work.

In the world of instance access to a big audience, I can see someone being frustrated and lashing out as a form of venting. I don't agree with it... but I get it.

That's OK in a way, but what happens when you tell a company like Leupold or NF that there is a problem with certain ones of their scopes, and they know there is and they outright lie to you and tell you like in NF's case with the 15-55 scope that your rings are the problem. I've had a handful of friends in this SR game that sent their scope back, me included and we all got the same bullshit it's your rings answer. And Leupold. Their 45X sucks more than Nina Hartley. I've have personally witnessed 10 fail in competition and it's not just certain era's of them. The most recent one was a brand new one that clouded up and looked like you were looking thru chicken soup. It happened last year when the scope had a little over 350 rounds thru it. I mean that scope has been out for at least 10 years. When are these engineer's going to figure it out? These companies must think all of us consumers are a bunch of idiots. Is that where you finally say, LET THE BASHING BEGIN?

I understand after poor customer service has been experienced and many times repeatedly, someone looking to vent with a sympathetic audience. Maybe even asking advice on how to deal with a bad situation. My original post was in regards to people who bash prior to any contact with the smith, scope manufacturer etc. not after. I do get what you're saying!

I am not involved in BR shooting, and I do not see it here, but in this game I've seen new products or companies in their infancy elevated to the 2nd coming of Christ status by a handful of fanboys. And a lot of money is made before reputations are validated. I'm not giving examples, but in these cases, maybe a bashing is needed. Sometimes large amounts of money are on the table, and expecting something to be right the first time for the price paid may not be out of line.

You can about read through a post and decide for yourself if the person doing the complaining is not a stand up type. And if another member would just ask outright if the company in question has been contacted within the first 5 posts sometimes the post can be shutdown. IMO, people coming to the aid of a product or business without realizing that there could have been something wrong are just as guilty as the one doing the whining.

But yes, one should always give the person or business you are about to accuse the opportunity to rectify it first.

How bout when a barrel is so bad that 9 shots accumulate so much copper that it takes two hours to get it out. And when you send it back you wait 6 weeks without even an acknowledgment that they received it.then when you call over and over pushing every extension and leaving messages. Finally getting the shipping department guy who says he will go check the status, set's the phone down and you can hear in the background the gunsmith say (tell him I'm not in) he picks up phone and says (the gunsmith is not in ) Then when you do finally get your barreled action back after relapping you see razor cuts through the ceracoat finish and scope base ? Then when you send pictures to their email and leave more phone messages you never hear from them ? Frank @ b--b - .com , also info @ b- b-.com) i can't mention their name but it is like ba- lein . in the cheese head state. By the way who in nina hartly ?

Haha, you have some pent up hostility, and maybe rightfully so. I'm surely not here to defend anyone, but one instance never defines a company, but it can profile a person.
