Been noticing that Frankford Arsenal is making a move on the market. They used to only make low priced reloading gear, but have always offered decent quality for the money. Now it seems like they want be a player in the reloading market with manufacturers of higher quality equipment. They've been coming out with some really nice innovative designs in recent years.

I own and use the Frankford tools for my high volume varmint reloading. I have the depriming tool, case prep center, and vibratory case tumbler. All excellent quality for the money and zero issues with any of them so I wouldnt hesitate to try their new higher priced gear.

Gets me excited to see a company wanting to evolve from lower budget gear to higher quality products. Good for them :)

I agree, quality tools. They will probably wind up being bought out by some mega company, hornady or RCBS?? and the tools driven to a lower quality, for profit. “corporate raiders “ I call them.

I hope not. That would be ashame.

Market competition keeps prices in check and fuels innovation

Remington does that to a lot of smaller firearms manufacturers. Buy them out and market the products for themselves and sometimes they just fire everyone and shut the place down to eliminate the competition

I use a bunch of older equipment, south bend lathes and a Wells index” milling machine these were built in late 60’s and are as good now as they ever was, or very close. When I used the frankford decapping tool It reminded me of the “old school” mentality with the “metal” parts it will probably outlast my son if he follows my path. Their priming tool is the same way, as I trust the rest of their stuff is too.
 
Not sure on some of the new stuff. I'm sure a lot of it is still made in China. I hope they do start manufacturing here. Maybe Trump can give them a guilt trip ;)
 
I have a FA prep center, the trim function quit working after about 1k cases, still spins and all, just takes forever to trim a case. Saw a new/different FA prep center at Midway that had done away with the trim function. I still use my FA prep center for deburr/chamfer but went different directions for trimming.

I replaced the factory cutter with a Redding cutter (if memory serves . . .) after a few hundred cases and I'm very happy with its performance a couple of thousand cases later. Ditch the OEM cutter in favor of a higher-quality one and you're back in business.

PS. I think their hand priming tool is excellent!
 
Just ordered the hand priming tool to give it a whirl. Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware they made one. Looks pretty nice.

I was actually looking to get the 21st century tool, but the FA comes with all the shell holders and it also has an adjustable depth. Might as well give it a try first. Can always return it if I dont like it.

But if it floats, it can sail. Thinking finally after decades of updating and automating a least part of my reloading process.

That one just came out I believe. It looks intriguing but I already have a Chargemaster so I don't see it in my future.
