Autotrickler powder spillage.

I tried to buy direct without using the online purchase and was told it was not possible to just send a check or M.O.....:(....I hear they work well. Maybe in the future...

I have found that two bends in the straw are very effective. Yes you can see some pieces of powder on the scale, but sometimes I screw up and forget to have a cup there when I start.

I'm the guy that makes the Auto Trickler reducing inserts. Although I'm good friends with the 419 crew and shoot with a lot of their team guys, I'm not affiliated with them. All of their Autotricker upgrades are awesome. I've been making the Chargemaster inserts for years now and started making the AT inserts shortly after them came out. You can message me to get the inserts here or grab them from Ebay.

I've made a 3d printed straw replacement. The STL files for printing are linked in the video description:

Maybe I got lucky but I am using the straw and cup that came with it and I don’t get powder bouncing out?? I have only used h4895 and h1000 so far.

I didn't get a straw in the first place (I've only ordered specific parts from Adam as I'm using my own controller unit with OLED display and rotary dial to enter target values). None of the straws with bend that I found locally did fit properly. I found a straight one which proper diameter, but that caused a lot of spillage. So I printed that funnel with offset, and it works great so far. The bajonet lock also makes it easy and quick to remove if you want to put the thrower on the table.

Hari, the Area 419 straw replacement has the same offset built in that you used. I think its a great idea but the inside finish is so smooth every now and then a kernel or two bounce out, even with the deep cup they offer. Your 3d printed model likely has some ridges inside that powder would slow powder down a bit.

Like everyone I love my Autotrickler Autodrop combo with the Area 419 upgrades. But I don’t think the Area 419 straw replacement funnel does enough to control powder splash, even with their big cup. It seams that at least some of the powder goes straight through and a few kernels have enough inertia to bounce out onto the scale.

As an attempt to at least reduce powder splash I cut a small baffle out of card stock and inserted it into the funnel. I cut it about 1/16” larger than the funnel and pressed it in so that the opening is opposite the opening in the funnel. This causes all of the powder to do a complete S turn before exiting the funnel, reducing inertia considerably. It’s a slight press fit so I was able to angle it down towards the notch in the card stock. I’m happy to say that not one kernel bounced out in about 50 test drops!

Now I'm not very good with plastics, metals, wood or women but cardboard I can do. You Sir are a genius, 300 rounds loaded and not one stray kernel of powder, thank you.

I been getting powder splase all the time with varget.
I am going to try making a baffle to try and control this problem.

I found your funnel on Thingiverse and plan to print one out. Quick question, did you also come up with the pan base so it’s in the same spot each time?

I printed the funnel/straw that Hari came up with and I also made up a quick baffle similar to what is now included with the Area 419 replacement straw. This should be a nice little upgrade for guys not wanting to spend the money on the Area 419 replacement thrower mount and straw setup.

I did receive the pan base from Adam together with the autothrower/trickler parts. No idea if that's included in the regular kit, which I didn't buy as I had my own motors and my own electronics with OLED display and rotary knob to enter target values, beep when finished, and different stepper drivers which allow completely silent operation of the motors.
