Vortex Fury ???

Anybody have time with the Vortex Fury HD 5000? What are your thoughts?

They were just released at SHOT. I don't think many are out in the wild. I am giving them a serious look. I will call my dealer, I asked him to give them a look at the show for me. Hope the live up to the hype. Hope the glass is good and the laser does what they say it does.

I've got the previous version and they have impressed me every time I use them. I cannot imagine better but might have to sell these and buy the new ones to try

Got to play with these last weekend. They seem like a good deal, but as far as glass/image quality they can't hold a candle to Leica/Swaro/Zeiss. I never though they could, but you can always hope. The glass does have a minor tint, similar to other Asian imported binoculars. Mirage can be picked up, but comparing the side-by-side with Swaro EL-Range and Swaro SLC 15x the difference was considerable. That being said, they run $1k vs $3k for the EL-Range.

I didn't get enough time to play with the laser. I couldn't get anything past 1400y. I believe this was because the RF mode was set to HCD (horizontal equivalent). This feature has limited distance. I need to change the mode and spend more time testing. The laser is fast and heads up display is clear.

Amazing glass. I would not hunt prairie dogs without this binoculars. I can view all around 360 degrees with out a head ache! You can pay over $2,000 for another but this one is the best for the value.
