Clamp on Brake

I'm considering putting a Witt Machine clamp on brake on my .300 WM. I'm shooting a fairly stout load with a Hornaday 208. Any info good or bad from your experience with one would be appreciated.

Mine works very well on a 30-338, neighbor put on on 6.5 creed. light weight kimber says it works .

They work in spades. I put one on a 23" light varmint, 22-243 AI shooting 60g Sierra's at 4000 fps and saw my hits instantly on a metallic p. dog at 300 yards, stock was a Rem 700 Varmint, Walnut, hogged out barrel channel.

It would be prudent to hunt with electronic ear muffs to keep from going deaf.

THE WITT BRAKE WORKS FLAWLESSLY BUT PAY ATTENTION TO INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL REQUIRE A CEASEFIRE AND INVOLVE YOU CRAWLING AROUND IN THE GRASS IN FRONT OF YOUR FRIENDS . NOT COOL !!! READ AND (FOLLOW) INSTRUCTIONS. GOOD LUCK .:)

Kevin, I know what you are saying. A year or so ago I was watching a guy shoot a stage in PRS when is suppressor came off and went flying down range.

I have that brake on my .308 & it's been there for 3000 rounds.

I don't have 3k rounds thru mine, probably half that, but it works great and stays put, IF you do like stated above and follow the directions when measuring and installing.
Not sure if the brake acts like a tuner of sorts, or reduced the felt recoil to a managable level so I could concentrate on the shot more, but my rifle, Savage FV in .308 Win. groups quite a bit better with the brake than without.
Oh, and WEAR YOUR EAR PLUGS!!

Make sure you get one of his holiday deals, 20 or 25% off. I had one for a 6.5mm ackley not pretty but they work very well. mike in ct PS: make sure your club allows those side vent brakes during competition. & ear plugs plus muffs is needed. you will feel the increase in noise.

I have a kahntrol clamp on brake and it's tthe most effective brake I have and have ever used. At the same time it gives the biggest concusion blast that so bad I had to take it of off a 300winmag because my head would pound for a day after using it.
Now it's on a 243win and it's good.

I have a Encore with 24 inch chambered in 445 SM (3/8 in longer 44 Mag case) and I ordered Witt clamp on for it. There was a discussion on another fourm if clamping that big hunk of metal on the end of a barrel would affect accuracy.
Shot this 5 shot 100 yd group with Hornady 265 gr Flex Tips. Really tames the recoil!

I missed ordering one during the Christmas Season sale. Do you guys know how often he has the sales? I want one for my .223 Contender Barrel, but am in no rush as the wood chucks aren't out for a while.

My luck I ordered mine 2 days before. I ordered it on the phone and asked if there was a sale coming up and was told they did not think so, but they gave me 10% off for asking, so it is not too bad.

@ Ackleymanll,.. THIS, sounds like a Plan and EXACTLY what, I'm going to "do" ! I will be ordering one for my "Sporter weight" .22-250 Rem. that, "Jumps" just enough that, I CAN'T see the "Hit" thru, the scope when I pull the Trigger ( Just a Whop and some flying, Body Parts ! ). I have tried loads down to 3,300 FPS with, 50's and the Muzzle, still jumps, a bit off my, portable Bench ! My loads will all be, under 3.550 FPS ( accuracy Loads, in MY Rifle ) for, the Flat Based, 55's and 60's. I have heard that, the "Noise" to the Shooter, BEHIND the Gun, is "manageable" with, good,.. Ear Plugs,.. any THOUGHT'S on, the Noise Factor ??? I thought it might be worth a try ! Heck, for $90.00 IF I'm NOT, "happy",.. I'll throw it, in the Trash !
