New barrel, scope no longer centered.

Welp, this turned out to be interesting. Shot a match with it today. Get to the firing line, crank in my elevation from 100 yard zero, and let 2 sighters fly. No impact. Match director grabs his spotter, and I shoot another one. Right in the 9 ring of my neighbors target. X ring waterline. Remove the 20+ MOA that I needed at 100 yards, and I am back on paper! It was extremely calm this morning and I am within 2moa of where the old barrel would have hit at 600 yards! Right before I left, I even put a laser in the barrel and it was dead center at 10 yards, with the 100 yard zero. So, not only was the barrel installed and clocked perfectly, the gun turns out to be a hammer. While fireforming, not only did I win today’s match, I set my own best day agg of 599-40x!! Going to shoot another match tomorrow as well. When I get back home, I will crank it back down to 100 yard zero and see if the windage correction is still needed.

Just curious...was the wind by any chance blowing at a full-value 83 mph the day you needed 20 MOA windage to center it? ;)

Glad you got it fixed.

Ha! My best guess is either scope internals got out of whack during last flight, or the self centering rings got hung up. Leaning towards the scope guts, as the only thing I did before I shot was run the windage turret lock to lock to see where it was compared to optical center.

New barrel may have been aligned with the outer surface of the barrel rather than the bore itself when cutting the chamber.
