Holy Cow, that nut looks familiar. I built my rifle around it. Think I'll buy another one and start another built. Maybe call it " It Begins 2". Or not, still saving for an Nightforce. Nut guns rock.I haven't decided yet. The rifle is a 1980's vintage BDL varmint in 223 and I am considering starting with the factory stock that it has been in. My barrel nut is a Bighorn 12 pt--![]()
The diameter of the nut is very little larger than the factory Rem varmint barrel that is on the action now.
ya know, i was kinda thinking the same thing. other than it is hit and miss if both the action and the lug are out: the errors may be either additive or cancel to some degree. if the lug is perfect, then the error is limited to the action? For a barrel nut barrel on a non trued action theres no reason to not reuse your factory lug
Where may I ask did you get your barrel and lug? When I built my Rem 722 with a Remage barrel, I used a .25" recoil lug. Cheap insurance for good accuracy.
Seems to have paid off on the target.
Barrel and barrel nut from McGowan, recoil lug from Brownells, Rifle from TOM (The Old Man, my dad)Where may I ask did you get your barrel and lug?
