Tinninitis solutions

I flunked my first hearing test in kindergarten. Lots of ear aches until tonsillectomy in 2nd grade. Too late, lots of scar tissue and hole in eardrum. I wouldn't know what to do if my ears weren't ringing. I've always wore hearing protection around equipment, while shooting, and usually while hunting.

Dang! I thought the only thing you could fail in kindergarten was Conduct.

I have had "tinnitus" since I was a teenager.

I am looking for answers!

At age 30, and ENT couldn't help!

Maybe, every great now and again, they don't ring, but it's short, and at this point, I am use to it.

It would be nice to get rid of it, so I am open to suggestions!

I heard a doctor on the radio say melatonin helped some people.
Don't know, but it's available over the counter.

I "wish" that's all it took. I am in silence most of the time these days.

I have seen some crazy cures on YouTube, sadly, I have not tried any, I guess I might try some.

At this point, I don't know if I could handle the silence!!!!!!

Last visit to my ENT, the Doctor told me I had a hearing problem! I answered, "I could have told you that"! LOL

Somehow, I have lost my 5 to 6 tone hearing, and that's a rating from 1 to 10! It's weird, I can hear a pin drop, I can hear anything loud or someone yelling, but if I am watching TV and someone turns on the Microwave or Dishwasher, I can't hear a dang thing!

Turn the volume up on the tv , use a fan a night

I feel for you guys. I don't have the problem orrr don't know it! Wife says "I don't pay attention..." Not making light of your afflictions if it seems so.

Mine was ok until the day I fired a few to many cylinders of 44 specials through a Ruger Blackhawk without protection. Been ringing ever since. Lately being on the work issued iPhone really seems to irritate it. None of my Android's do for whatever reason.

I got hearing aids about 6 months ago, and one of the features they have is a tinnitus masking sound. White noise if you will. I'm able to change the speed and volume of the white noise through an app. on my phone.
I really notice the difference when I don't have the HA in.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

Ditto on flunking my first hearing exam. How many on here started their shooting careers with cap guns? And how many immediately graduated to hitting a whole roll of caps with a hammer to make a bigger BOOM? I would turn my head and swing the hammer, ending up pointing my ear directly at the explosion. Finished off the other ear cutting grass to pay my way through jr high through part of college, then marshalling planes at the airport, and 20 years of manufacturing noise. I"m so used to it, the only time it bothers me is when I take a hearing test. Some of those beeps set it off worse than a gunshot.

My hearing is getting so bad that when I'm in the living room with the tv on, I can't hear my wife in the kitchen talking into the cupboard.
My doctor told me I had lost a considerable amount of hearing within a particular range x-y when I asked what range that was she smiled and said - woman's voices!
That explains much....

Exactly ! My deficit is the range where women and children speak, also high frequencies, other than the constant ringing of course.

Wy wife walks up to me in a huff and says "your not listening to me" and I think to myself, what a strange way to start a conversation.
