This is strange, 110 smk help

Hello guys, I have some questions about the 110 smk. I have been looking for any load data that I can find for my 6mm Creedmoore in a RPR. I have several articals and infornation from a few different places. All of them say that the COL is at or around 2.805 ish number. In the Hodgdon 2018 annual manual (Reloading) the stat that the bullet free travel is at .010 with a COL of 2.806" This information was taken from a RPR for this artical.
Now here is the information from my RPR.
The distance to the lands (point that it just touches) using my Hornady COL gauge .236 " dia measures 2.247" (measured very carfully using several different methods.) This when loaded gives me a 2.296 OAL. I have asked questions in other threads about the depth of the bearing surface into the neck and how short it was, but I'm questioning why is my OAL so different than reported by all of the other sourses that I can find? I've looked at my lands and don't see any major wear of the throat. Any thoughts ?

Different lots can vary many many thousanths from the ojive to the tip. Both seated at zero touch on the ojive could be .090 different to the tip
Thank you I did not realize that these bullets were so different. Now it seems the testing this bullet is going to be a waste of time unless I have a very large quantity of the same lot.

Just go by the ojive measurement. This is why nobody uses the oal method for any accuracy work
For my job, I do aerodynamic stuff. It seems to me that the BC would be greatly changed if the shape of the bullet can be so different. I bought 100 to test, and not sure if I can buy a large quantity of this same lot even if it test extreamly well.

Please let us know how it shoots for you, and if it stabilizes well. I have the same rifle and was planning on trying them also.

I have read that it stabilizes pretty well up to about 500 yards but not many people reporting on distances past that. I will let you know how it goes in my testing

Dont worry too much about lot to lot differences. Just shoot what you have and write the numbers down. On the next lot, try your old numbers, maybe adjust for the differences in the bullets and see if it works. You may need to tweak them a little, but the result will probably be similar.

110smk usually need a 7.5 twist or more.

Rpr is 7.7 twist. Some people are reporting that it needs to be at 6.8 twist, while others are saying that an 8 twist is stable. However I bet you if you look into the information there shooting close range. I'm going to be starting at 300 yards for my ladder development test but moving quickly to 1000 yards that I normally shoot at.

One of the things that I have found is that load data is difficult to find for a 6mm Creedmoor. We should probably create a post where anytime somebody test 6 mm Creedmoor loads they can report the results to that post. It sure would be helpful

I have been running 7.5t and am pretty happy with them. Shoot them at 100y then shoot for group/elevation at 500y or more. You will know pretty quickly if they are stable or not. Your elevation may also contribute a little to the stability. If you're in Colorado, they may stabilize a little better than if you're in Florida...

I've shot thousands of 110's out of 3 different barrels. You don't need a 6.8", they stabilize very well in a 7.5". My current favorite barrel is a 7.3" Broughton. Some guys have luck with an 8". I never did but that was only 1 Krieger 8" I tried them in. Start with them .010" off. For the 6 Creed try RL16 or H4350 with 450's. If the barrel doesn't like the 110's try 107 Sierra's or 108 Berger's. If the barrel won't shoot them, scrap the barrel.

Is yours a RPR? What did you think about the Krieger ? The rifle has shot well with the factory barrel so far but i'm going to buy a new barrel to run in the light division. 17 pound limit

My best current load is 40.9 grns of H4350, Hornady 108's and .001 off the lands. That has tested well. I haven't shown the numbers that I tested in competition yet, but that will come.
