Starline 5.56 H20 Capacity

Picked up a bag of Starline 5.56 brass (actual 5.56 headstamp, they say it's the same other than some metallurgical differences from the 223 brass)

Long story short; 30.5 grains of h20, and an outstanding standard deviation.

Screenshot attached.

This is the only brass in 223/556 that I have measured. For reference I have measured some 308 brass.

Lapua SRP SD: .16
Alpha SRP SD: .12

Measured LC04 and LC15 batches of brass. Both had an SD of .25

I like the H20 capacity, I have once fired and will weigh the capacity. I did weigh external weigh and outlines were few, mostly variation was .6 tenths of a grain. 200 cases.

guess it is a personal thing, but 6 tenths in 30 GR CASE IS WAY TOO MUCH for me.
I like 50 cases on plus or minus .1 grain

Good information.

Don't you mean 0.6gr SD of empty case weight for a 103 gr case? He showed 0.06gr SD for the 30gr case capacity

*I know this is an old thread. But I felt this needed to be pointed out for those considering using this brass in future.*
