Will a Remington Model 7 reliably feed BR cases?

I have never been around a Remington Model 7 and was wondering if they will feed BR cases reliably from the magazine? I have no experience with the 7 so thought I would ask it here. Thanks.

The model 7 magazine and follower is essentially the same as a model 700. They usually don't feed BR cases well until a gunsmith that is familiar with such things tweaks the set up. Mike Bryant used to sell a kit with a blocked magazine box and modified follower. It CAN be done, but not every gunsmith knows how to do it. There is also a someone out there that sells a detachable magazine that feeds BR, Dasher, etc. slick as all get out.

I used a 700 for 30br. Feeding was not a problem. As I recall I put a spacer behind the follower. The problem was that if you opened the bolt slowly the cartridge was so short it would come off the bolt face as soon as it cleared the chamber. If you racked it fast it worked most of the time. I should have tried trimming the ejector spring.

My 6 br feeds fine from a AI mag. I do load them a little short in the mag, needs a spacer, but its still 100% reliable as is.. is you use a detachable AI compatable bottom metal, the bob sled mag to make it single shot is fabulous.

Use a 223 spacer/spring and a trimmed 308 follower. Some like to use an ADL spring, but yes all of this is quite possible.

You might find that Mike Bryant's website may still have picture threads on how to do it. I had one that worked like a champ and the other not so good.

Wyatt's Outdoors has a BR internal box that will take care of feeding issues of the BR/Dasher cases.
