F open rest question

@pirate ammo will be proud of me, i am passing my Creedmoor on to my 14 year old son so he can shoot f open with me. I am purchasing a custom 284 for myself.

Dilemma is now i need a second rest.

Price wise is there a better rest than buying a shadtree coaxial top 400.00 shipped, and putting on a bald eagle base with upgraded feet 170.00 roughly.

So basically can i spend 600 plus bag better. I know a SEB neo or farley coax is the benchmark but they are 800 to a 1000.

Let me know please.

Thank you
Chad

sinclair is on sale for 550.

That comes down to whether you prefer stick or knobs.
I can't get to liking stick.

Watch the Brownells sales plus 10% off and free shipping
A lot of guys are using the Sinclair comp.
Newbieshooter stays up on these sales perhaps he'll chime in.

There is also Joe Cowen rest $240 plus shipping
Dr Greenlaw makes rests

Call Ernie Bishop and get on the wait list for the mini. You can be saving while you wait. I find myself grabbing my daughter's mini instead of my neo more often than not. Great rest

You have no idea how bad id like to have a seb mini, but its at least a grand, and not something i can come up with for next shooting season. I have to have a rest for start of season and another scope so my son can shoot.

I think the mini is around $800 shipped and the neo is around $1100, but I understand getting more than one rifle system together

Getting a Seb rest before April ain’t likely to happen. Waiting list is longer than that. Not like you can just order one and get it after 3-5 days shipping, even if you have the money!

Caldwell with the joystick will get you by,
Or have DR Greenlaw make you a rest

Chad,

Regardless which rest your decide to get, I'll be looking forward to shooting with you and your son in Atterbury next year!

Good luck in your search for a rest.
... and the 284 is an excellent choice.

Id really love to hear from some guys that have a shadetree top. Would love a direct comparison between it and the high end seb or farley.

That took all of a couple months!!!
I'm glad to hear it.
I really cant afford to get the rifle let alone a new rest, but my son is 14 i need to draw his attention to something good before someone draws it to something bad. I was his age once a grew up in the town he and his mother live in, i know what can happen.

Alan Alda called my home town the town that never sleeps on the late show with Johnny Carson years ago. He didnt mention the reason it never sleeps.

I too have had pleasure of shooting with my son for 4 years and know the contraints on not being able to afford 2 of everything on high end equipment. We have been to several matches that I have informed match directors we share equipment. They all have said no problem and set us up on same lane but different relays. Best class of people to be around and go out way to help. Today we now are shooting different classes so is easier.
We had a shade tree top we used for a year, upgrade to Farley, now use a Neo. No matter what rest you have or use it is all a learning and growing experience that is worth it. Cherish those weekends together as father and son. I am lucky enough to say we still able to shoot together.
