I would go one step further and say that constructing something that COULD blow something up will get the attention of the alphabet agencies.

Using x grains of rifle powder to charge a 50bmg; not really a problem; stuffing the same charge into a a capped pipe with a fuse.. won't likely end well once discovered.

One must understand that while gunpowder is explosive, it's not AN explosive; rather a propellant., and how it is used is the deciding factor in its legal status.
 
About 15 or so yers go a guy here and his brother were stuffing wooden matchstick heads into empty CO2 cartridges and setting them off, comparable to an M80. Someone complained, everyone got involved, they were arrested, charged, ended up with 20K fine, felony, all firearms confiscated. It was stupid on their part, over reaction and excessiveness on the part of the authorities, maybe so. But we live in a time and place where some activities are under scrutiny, fair or not, legal or not, anything other that a little Ka-Boom will draw attention.
 
Looks to me like a good example of people managing to 'get away' with ill-advised and reckless behavior.

I never said it should be regulated, but detonating 20lbs while 200 yards away and causing an explosion that was heard 15 miles away is just ASKING for one of the control freaks to decide it needs to be regulated. And for what? To destroy a dress? Really? Exercise a bit of self-control. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Common sense and personal responsibility. Two things that have ALWAYS been in very short supply.
 
We can claim the right to do XYZ all we want. One signature on a bill erases all that, has in the past, has now and will in the future. The Constitution is a piece of paper and it cant stop a pencil being pushed through it, let alone legislatures armed with the foolishness of themselves and others. We used to have open carry, till all the open carry-tards went to Sacramento and got in the governors face while open carrying, the result, no more open carry, it only took about a week to destroy that right.

We had this happen a couple weeks ago from a guy and his kids shooting explosive targets and tracers in a dry area. 500 acres, and a little too close to several homes. Not to mention how many US dollars went up in smoke.

I like me some Tannerite, and hate to be controlled by the gummint, but damn, I wish some folks weren't so dumb. jd

If he wanted to be vindictive he should show the video to the authorities and convince them this was a threat. Even if it go's no where it will be a hassle for her explaining.
 
Being vindictive and using what resources are at hand would be smart. The guys I referred to in a prior post were want to be militia types, pure knuckle heads. And yes, children and young adults have been enjoying Pogo sticks for years so, I agree he got it right.

But the true enemy is the "in your face" with our rights guys that end up supplying the opposition with the fuel to get our rights restricted.
