Starting on a another project, this one will be a little different than my previous stocks. I wanted something a bit like @joshb 's stocks but have a little different look, I like the covered mag well area. I bought a cheaper piece of walnut thinking I may screw up this new design, but so far it's working out well. I have another figured piece on the way to make more if I feel up to it. I am trying to model this one off an AICS Chassis 2.0 with the folder. I also bought a Whidden Gunworks Bedding block to install in the action area. The bedding block is a bit more headache than I thought it was going to be, but this will allow me to swap barreled actions and should have a pretty repeatable fitment. The folding part is giving me some heartburn too but I am getting it worked out. This is a picture before I made the stressful cut of turning it to a folder. I have the folding mechanism almost complete, the epoxy is curring now. I will also be doing some cool brass inlays that will look like the cross bolts for the AICS Chassis that should look sweet with the dark walnut. I will post some follow up photos of this one when it is further along. Hopefully I can get some work done on it next week and weekend, this weekend I'll be in the NC mountains chasing big brown trout

How about some of those decorative pins that knifemakers use? That would be a cool faux crossbolt or under the rear sling swivel stud location like marlin used to do with that plastic bullseye thing.

I made some progress as well.
The hardware came from Carolina Shooters Supply. It is a hinge made for a Saiga Folding stock (https://www.carolinashooterssupply....AK47_PUSH_Button_ACE_p/css-sfm-pushbutton.htm)
I'll take some better photos of the connection to the wood, once I clean it up. It's fairly rough at this point. I wanted to get the hinge to function and get the alignment right before final shaping. For the reciever side I used some 1/4-20 bolts and some coupling nuts. I drilled out the area rear of the action, two parrellel holes for the coupling nut to fit. I used a Dremel to cut some groves aling the coupling nut, to give a more agressive texture for the epoxy to grip to. The hinge came threaded for 10-32 but on the reciever side. I drilled it out a tad larger to accommodate the 1/4-20.
The buttstock to hinge side, I kept the 10-32 bolts. I was able to put some nylon lock nuts down into the rear and epoxy them in place.
Now I need to remove a bit more walnut on the left hand side of the buttstock portion to all the stock to open and lock in the folder position.
I already have some beautiful pine that I plan on gluing to a piece of something to make my next. I'm going to go shopping for some wood shortly. I have a lot of irons in the fire right now and am trying to pace myself.

That looks awesome. Seriously awesome.This one is done. Remington 308 5r with a Weaver 36 on top. This will be the kid’s first rifle. We’ll see if he takes to it before it gets anymore upgrades.

Progress update:
The folder is starting to come together nicely, I have the hinge fitment as good as I can get it. It clicks in either the open or closed position with an authoritative click. I also added some rare earth N52 magnets to the lower part of the grip to help reduce any wobble. Even without the magnets there is hardly any play in the fitment, any play that is there is in the hinge and not the fitment of the wood. I cut the nose of the stock down to give it a more agressive look on the front end. I also started the brass rod inlay. The brass rod inlays will need to be epoxyed in place so their fitment isn't perfect yet. @Dusty Stevens ) the pins that you posted, I dont believe will work as they are pretty small diameter from the ones I shopped for, nice call and would have looked nice in my opinion had the sizing been right. I have a few more brass rod inlays to do, I need to work on the rear portion of the buttstock to slim it down a bit. I also need to work on the trigger area and get those angles to look good with the rest of the stock. Lastly for this one I want to add a cheer riser and lop adjustment hardware along with buttpad and cheek riser pad.

I have another blank similar to the one I posted before that I sold to a friend, this piece of walnut came from the same tree as the previous one. But I has a few defects in it, so this one will most likely stay with me unless someone wants it. But I have attempted to fix the few defects, I drilled out the areas that the knots/weak spots were and filled them with Devcon 10110 and I have one more to fill, you can see in photo. There was also a knot on the inside right near were the recoil lug and front action screw go into place. This know extends to the outside of the blank. You can see how I have attempted to remedy the problem. The inlet side is a bit rough still but making progress. I believe this will be strong enough to not cause any issue but is just rather unpleasing to the eye. All the problems are on the left hand side of the stock. The rest of the stock is looking great for only being sanded down with 320grit this far. I put a coat of linseed to start the oil/sanding and bring out the figure in the grain.
The bottom metal is not inletted yet so I am trying to balance the mock up barreled action in the stock so the fitment may not look right but the action fits tightly if pressed down, just no bottom metal yet to tighten with.
