Shot my very first big game animal as a child with a Browning lever action 257 Roberts. Always kind of like the quarters, but nobody every made good LR bullets for them. Good to hear someone is finally stepping up and giving a good LR offering.

I'd assume you'd have to purchase enough Bullets for the Life of the Barrel, or at least 1000-3000. Roughly 16.6 percent increase in capacity over the Creed. Guessing 3100 Node?Agreed.
I’ve been trying to make a .257 AI shoot better than “respectable” for around 10 years (I know, I’m slow) with the 100 SMK and 115 Bergers. The occasional .75” 3 shot group at 300 will get me all worked up only to be followed by groups of 1.75”-2.0”. I must admit I’m tempted to get a cut rifled barrel in .257 and trying them myself.

Now if you went with the Modern Proven 6XC Brass it would make this more Plausible. So, If you purchase 22-250 Lapua Brass and then Fire Form it how is this better than the 25-Creedmoor? Keeping in mind 6XC is +- 3 Grains less Capacity than the Creedmoor.Almost identical to the CM case is the 250 Sav AI except in the 30 degree shoulder version. I've two 250 Sav AI's and I think 3000fps with a 130 gr is really pushing it. IF I was determined, I would look to the small primer case for an extra margin of strength . . . but I am not so inclined![]()
I agree, I think it's 7 Twist though. Yea, I'm not taking the Plunge just yet either. My comment was not offered as the proven solution but simply a suggestion: if i were trying to get 3000+fps with 130gr bullets out of 25 cal wildcat based on a 6.5 CM case, I"I" would go with the strongest case possible which would be the new Lapua small primer CM case. I don't know if it's worth the effort"....
I would love to see someone offer a production rifle with a formal, standardized 25 CM having a twist between 8" & 9" if for no other reason than: (1) we'd see new bullets developed and more choices for us who hand-load and (2), the major cut-rifled barrel makers would probably start making 25 barrels with similar twists. Anything less than a 10tw now is a special order and takes forever to get![]()
And who is going to make the jackets for these heavier bullets? My comment was not offered as the proven solution but simply a suggestion: if I were trying to get 3000+fps with 130gr bullets out of 25 cal wildcat based on a 6.5 CM case, "I" would go with the strongest case possible which would be the new Lapua small primer CM case. I don't know if it's worth the effort - that's for you to determine. Having said that, I hope you keep us informed with your progress.

The bullets are made for Blackjack by Sierra. And who is going to make the jackets for these heavier bullets?

I dunno why everyone try's to be smart about the 30 TC case, the Creedmoor has very different dimensions than the TC. It has a narrower Shoulder & a Shorter Shoulder. It's not the Same Case. You can make the Creedmoor out of an Awful Lot of Donor Brass. Tell you what, If I said .25-30TC Wildcat now that would be a totally different Cartridge than the .25 Creedmoor. The .25-30TC cartridge would pretty tall and might even rival the height of a 08 Case. It would also Cost Twice as Much and would not offer the Availability benefits of the Creedmoor. Like I stated earlier, it's about the .25 Caliber High BC Bullets.Having always wanted (tho not needed on my usually hunting grounds) a nice custom in 257 WBY Mag I can visualize it being set up for a bullet like this. Much more so than a wildcat on the 30TC case (which was "wildcatted from some other case).
I was working for TCA when the 30TC hit the street. I know about it very well. It was actually marketed to do something it never really did well enough to make it popular and it, along with the Icon rifle, failed. Sad for the rifle; I own one of the few Icon Precision Hunters ever built in 6.5 Creedmoor and it is one helluva shooter.I dunno why everyone try's to be smart about the 30 TC case, the Creedmoor has very different dimensions than the TC.
