Should I go 6br

I can hit an Apple at 500 yards in one shot with a 6BR
A little tougher with other calibers
Just saying

So if I limit myself to 600 should I go 1/10 an light bullets or 1/8 and heavy. Of course wind is my biggest killers. Note, my targets were shot in low wind. If it had been windy it would be ugly.

Like others have said, go with the 1/8. I have a Dasher with a 1/8 and 104 freebore. I have shot primarily 105 Berger VLD's. I recently tried some lighter 80 Bergers and got a pleasant surprise. The 80's will make it to the lands with plenty of the bullet still in the case neck. And they shoot very small with a stiff load of Varget at about 3380 fps.

All that to say don't be afraid to try lighter bullets in a 1/8 twist in a BR.

I did a 6BR on a Krieger 1-7.5 No Turn neck. Prone Rifle Sling Iron Sights.
600 cleans very common ..

Just came back from Montana that is Dasher and BRX Land ….108 Berger's Very popular .
1000 yard Bench Record was made with a Dasher ????

Here are two typical targets. One with ten shots the other twenty. 500 prone. With this setup. Bighorn tl3 action, savage prefit shilen select match. 6.5 creed. The rifle shoots .4s on the bench as shown in the pic. I just cant seem to get any better then 1moa prone. I can't see my hits without a brake and don't want one anymore. To loud! Thanx mike
I'm hearing you say .6 Moa difference between bench and prone.
You may want to figure that out prior to spending more money.
You can't buy your way out of a table manners problem.
Just saying..

So I'll try the Grizzly rest and a better bag to reduce that vertical. Oh and get a 6br barrel. I disagree about buying out of it. I could pay a good shooter to shoot it. Haha

You could never go wrong with a 6br, however you still have to reduce variables. I personally can't develop a load off a bi pod

6BR all the way, I had a brux 8 twist chambered up with a no turn neck and 60ths free bore, I can shoot 70gr blitzkings at chucks and switch to 105HVLD for deer! Best of both worlds, what more can you ask for? Accuracy is unbelievable with both bullets

T 700

6br 8 tw .104 freebore and 108 Bergers to 600yd = as good as you can ask for. 103vt (if you can get them) or 105 vlds to 1000yd is a legit 1000yd set-up where I come from. As has been said, cartridge your shooting may not be your problem. FWIW.

First I'd like to say nice range.
Mike what load are you running out of curiosity?
Can't argue with the masses about the 6, it is inherently accurate.
Hey bc's, sorry I took so long. So I did some testing with different bullets and got the barrel broke in pic1. Then I did the best 300 yard ocw test I could muster (-010 jump) I picked 40.5 grains pic2. Then I did a 100 yard seat depth test and I like touch pic3. From there I went straight to 500 prone pic4. Maybe I should of tested the final load over the bench (duh). I'm a rookie at this load development stuff but sure is fun. My own personal range in the river bottom 10mins from home 500y max pic5. My other own personal range (the desert) 15min from home, 1000 plus to infinity and beyond buzz. Pic6. Cheers Mike

Nice work. You do have the ability to switch barrels with that fancy nut for sure.
Dont give up on the 6five just yet your just getting started.
#40fan has posted some good load data on the 6ppc board using h4831sc, Imr 4831gave impressive v's also. "Secret Carolina load"
I'm running Rl26 currently but plan on playing with above load info and playing with rl16 agian after hunting season. Initial rl16 ocw I got a high.3 group in upper reaches of data.
Going to revisit this and do seating depth test to see if it'll out shoot the rl26.
