Shotgun blueing

Is there some particular reason no one wants to send the shotgun to Beretta? Maybe just me but when I need a gun reblued I go to the manufacturer not someone else.

Because theyll send it to one of a couple that were suggested. It wont go back to italy itll go somewhere like turnbull restoration

Could you please explain why??

Like Dusty posted, value is knocked down considerably. I have only seen a couple of re-blues that looked good and to me, it's just throwing away money. My 'disaster' still shoots like a dream and I wouldn't consider selling it anyway.

I've had a few guns re-blued over the years. I won't own a nasty looking gun and sent a few back to the mfg. To be honest they always looked great when returned and I have never been disappointed.

One an early Colt Python brought a really good price when I sold it and I even told the buyer it was re-blued by Colt. He never batted an eye.

Most Europeans send their shotguns back to the mfg for refurbishing when needed which includes a re-blue. Not sure why everyone in this country frowns on it.
