Ejector

How many shooters using single shot (no bottom metal) rifles remove the ejector from the bolt?

Ejector......Nope. Haven’t used one in years. There’s several theories as to why it makes sense but I also know LR High Masters who do use them. So go figure.

As Uthink said, yes on extractor. Tough to get brass out of chamber without one of those.

No ejectors on any of my competition rifles. Cartridge comes out of the box, goes in the rifle and the fired case pulled off the bolt face and put back in the box. Keeps them nice and clean and organized that way.

Had Gre-Tan remove & fill the ejectors on my Dakotas while he had the bolts for bushing, both excellent mods. See pics. Last thing I want is to be chasing that carefully prepped brass in the PD fields, and I can still get off 500+ carefully aimed shots in a day.

So could i put a really weak ejector spring in my savage 12 and see a benefit from it? That spring is really strong. I have a extra spring i could cut down stretch whatever would it be worth a try?

I've cut down the spring (disc sander) in two different action. You can shorten it to reduce the throw of the ejected brass or only have it cocked out of the port but still hanging on the extractor. I have one action set up where I hand extract the case and one with a 'soft' ejection of about 12-16"...still on my shooting mat.
