Hard to believe that anyone would be bold enough to take any of those stocks to the bench, but, some people....
Just too pretty to take a chance. Be better to take a picture and say "look what I've got".

I believe it was the owner of Cerus’ personal gun that was in Raton, on the line, in pouring rain. His stock is pure artwork. Inlays, the works.
Soaked.
It’s exactly how these tools should be treated.
