How fast is to fast

shooting a 6CM with Berger 105 at speeds 3146 to 3156 with 41.5gn H4350 in a 26" heavy palma barrel with 7.5 twist. How fast is to fast. What is barrel life expectancy.

Can it ever be too fast?

I am pushing 110 SMKs at 3190 in a 7 twist .243 AI and I still have room to go higher.

I had a 30" 6 groove 7 twist sammi 243. with 46gr of rl26 i could get 3300fps. pressure at 47 but close to 3400. however the RPMS are nuts. I had several failures of bullets.

No matter how fast it is, you'll never be able to out run it.;)
FPS and ES or SD doesn't mean "JACK" if it wont group like you want it to.
A five shot group that can be covered with a dime is a good starting point.

On my 6 CM I Think I have a really fast barrel, I seated my bullets in a little farther as they were into the lands and still running 3150ish. Then loaded down from 41.5 to 39.8 and the speeds dropped down to about 3045 and shot good as did the higher load. Then shot some factory Hornady 103 ELD X and they were also running about 100 fps faster then what the box said.
Have a real tight chamber as even the factory are jamming and I have to reseat them a little deeper also.

Wow! That's really impressive with a standard .243.
