Savage LRP stock

I have been looking at stocks and there isnt much out there for my particular rifle. Im not in love with the factory hs precision and i really want a laminated wood stock.

I really like the adjustable butt and cheek of the boyds but the shape is poor for f class shooting.

GRS makes a fantastic looking laminated stock that cost almost as much as the rifle did.

Sharp shooter supply has a nice looking stock that is pillar bedded but i understand they are really long wait times and getting in touch with them is terrible.

Richards microfit has a couple nice br designs but im hearing a lot of fitment and bedding is required and still takes over a month to get it.

Has anyone recently got a microfit? How was your experience? The price is right.

I've bought 2 from them. They aren't fast. Expect it to take a couple months. When it finally arrives, it's a project, which was exactly what I wanted. It comes 95% shaped but needs final shaping, sanding, and then finishing. I wouldn't rely on their inlet, I would plan on bedding it. Expect 20 hours of work.

I was planning on making sure whatever i get is pillared and bedded. I would expect the basic shqpe to be 98% finished at least should only need finish sanded and coated more than that is ridiculous id think unless i was buying a blank.

My stocks had what looked like chisel marks all over, thus the 95%. I had to knock all the highs down, then final sand.

Check out these from Stocky's...I've got 2 of them and think they are the best bargain going in a laminate. It is a drop in but you may have to bed it.

Problem with stocky is they make nothing for large shank model 12 with drop box magazine. Trust me i screwed the pooch buying this model rifle, it is a odd ball in the savage lineup.

If i was to do it again i would have bought a nice used custom off here or to save money would have bought the savage fclass 6.5×284 option in stainless with a laminated stock.

Sell it now before you get to Deep is one option

How long ago was that? I would say that is very poor.
10 or so years ago. Things very well may be better now. Honestly, it was maybe an hour with a rasp and then I moved to sanding. Sanding took a day, and then about a week of an hour each night sanding then putting on a new layer of truoil until I had all the pores filled and everything good to go.

I bought the laminate grey stock from Savage. I have the 12 LRPV Rt bolt with Left port. I wanted a 3" BR stock and they sell them. They need the serial number and don't forget the action screws as they are a different length from the standard stock. Call their CS line number and see if that will work for you. It was 100% drop in.

If your rifle can be put in a Boyds Pro Varmit stock I can recamend it. I have a Savage 11 with a bull barrel set up as a single shot for F-TR with the adjustable cheek piece, pillar bedded and while it isn't perfectly on the rear bag it works for me. There are several ways to fit a 4' forend adapter if F-Open is your game. I also recently bought a Stocky's Bobby Bell bench rest stock with a 4' forend for a Rem. 700 action and it took from 3/28 to late July to arrive but it was perfect. I do not think it is available for a Savage action, however. A friend has a Savage in a At One stock with a 4' adapter for F-Open and he did his own bedding. It looks good and he is pleased with it. Good luck, let us see what you finally do.

I had one of those I really loved that stock for what it is for which is varmint hunting/tacticool. If you mounted a 7 slot picatinny to the front my bag rider would be a very good solution for benchrest shooting and you wouldn't need to restock it hunting, etc.

Looking at the front bag rider in the photos, but don't see one on the website...unless I'm getting older. Want or need one for a rail as shown too. Let me know. I have an RPR that is screaming for one. Rear as well most likely.
