Yeh, making dummies easy. Having something for the firing pin to strike repeatedly, not easy. Hot glue sounds ok. Maybe. How do you feel about pin striking on nothing?

A chit load but I have been told by a very well known smith it can and will happen. I understand where you are coming from I rolled my eyes to when he told me that.I say do what makes you feel comfortable and roll with it.How many trigger pulls do you think that might take????
I just use the [metal] snap caps. They may be pricey, but last a while so you don't need to buy a whole bunch of them.

Snap caps are highly recommended by the people who sell snap caps. For centerfire rifes they are not needed. --Jerry
