Probably for the older 105 Berger Match Boat Tail (Non-hybrid)

Clear and simple answer is, because there able to.
My own reason for having a 7.83-twist barrel; for some bullets I feel there are gains to spin them a little faster then a common 8-twist rate can (particularly with muzzle velocities below 3000-fps).

First time out with a 7.8 twist (Lederer) in a BRA..6.026'', not bad..for me. Have a Brux 7.83 for next years 6 Creed.

The 105 BT requires LESS twist.
On paper, the 7.83 is about perfect for the Hybrid.

I asked Ken at Brux where that number came from, and his reply was that with their machine, an older Pratt & Whitney, I believe (?), from the nominal 8 twist barrel they change one gear and the results are 7.83.

And that seems to work!

Because EVERYBODY knows that 8 twist tubes are junk and NO ONE has ever shot a good group with them!!

Just wondering since this section is titled 6BR, 6BR Improved & Wildcat. 6BR, BRX, BDX, Dasher, 22BR, 30BR which often use different twist.

In defense of @1inbrdg he might have his settings to see all "new posts" since his last visit. That's the way I do it and surmised that it was a 6mm but had no idea which section it came from, it could have been from several.

You can spin it so fast it comes apart. If it is unbalanced, too much spin can cause problems. Max accuracy, from the bench resters' experience, comes just past stable.

This is an old thread but I thought to reopen it to pose a question. Has anyone put the 1:7.83 twist to the test with some larger bullets...108+. I'm a tactical sort and I shoot a Bartlein 1:7.2 5r works well with everything I've thrown at it 105-115. I know Hornady is adamant about no less than 1:7.7 and they really suggest 1:7.5 for the A-Tips. I just thought to ask for a little real world thought on max bullet weights and the Brux 1:7.83.
