HA! Yes!You want heavy? Make it out of osage orange.![]()
I just wanted to take a moment and say thanks to the guys that recommended Jesse aka jghoghunter to duplicate a stock for me. Jesse was great to work with. I gave him a piece of lumber and he turned it into a perfectly duplicated stock. His turn around time was amazing as well. I would definitely recommend Jesse to anyone looking to get a stock duplicated. He is easy to deal with, has a great turn around time and a fair price. Thanks again!

He duplicated an MBR Tracker for me. I had a piece of walnut approx. 4" thick 7" wide and 40" long with a little bit of figure in it and he turned it into an MBR. His turn around time was great..... I can send you a couple of pictures tonight or tomorrow.
Not to hi-jack this thread but do any of these stock makers do TC Encore & Contender target pistol grips? I have a Contender grip I was ght given than I really like but I would like another one made as well as one or two for my Encores.
Thanks
Gary
I can't speak for him, but after meeting him and seeing his work, I imagine he could do that with no trouble. I would send him a pm and ask. ya, i wouldn't mind seeing some pictures of it.
The top stock is what I gave him to work from as a pattern, it's a Shehane MBR tracker. The bottom stock is what he made from my blank and that's how it looked when I picked it up....I haven't touched it yet. In my opinion, it's a very good duplication, but I'll let you guys judge for yourselves.

How about that? I didn't know it went by another proper name. It's known as bois d'arc in my area, or bodark to the locals. Unless of course you try to cut, burn or handle it much. Then it has a whole slew of unique & colorful names.
I'm resurrecting this thread, if you folks don't mind. I had a black walnut fall behind my house two years ago and the owner of the farm land told me I could snatch it up. Since we're building a new house, I'd like to make a stock from it as a functional keepsake of this house.
I've always used composite stocks so I'm woefully unaware of the cost and process to get a stock turned. I LOVE Doan's work and the design on his banner is what I'm looking for with adjustable cheek. Anybody have a clue as to what that design is called? Any idea on a cost given that I'm providing a blank?
