Lyman Digital Bore Scope any good? worth the $200?

A bore scope will also come in handy when purchasing a used rifle. I wish I had one when I bought a couple of nice looking rifles on the outside, but the inside of the barrel looks like something out of a horror movie!

how do you wipe the mirror off when it's polished stainless steel unless I'm missing something

Its definitely not polished stainless since it wiped off. The mirror appeared to be glued on as I only wiped off half of it with the patch dampened in brake cleaner.

10-4....I did read where a repair can be accomplished by shaping and polishing a piece of stainless to match the existing mirror and gluing it on but I gave it to a shooting friend to try to fix it. Don't know if he ever got it going again.

Don't need AC either so portable. You can run it off a battery pack. Handy at the range.

I use water, a qtip and a can of compressed air to clean it.

Be advised, there will be extremely powerful urges to replace good shooting barrels.

I clean mine with a lens brush. compressed air, toothpick and take a Q tip mash it flat or put in the vise>>> the q tip<< and get it real flat works good... use a Mag glass helps but I'm half blind so there u go

yep I scoped my 220 swift barrel looks like mangled blacktop but it still shoots good

Recently dropped my readout screen at the range helping a guy. Sent it to Lyman. New one sent back, no questions.

Using it right now as I am breaking in a new BRA barrel in the back yard. Essential.

To clean the mirrror NEVER use brakeklean products. They are very harsh solvents and can cause damage to plastic parts and adhesives.

When cleaning mirrors, Q tips moistened with glass cleaner or alcohol should be sufficient. Use anything else at ur own peril.

These video bore scopes are good for identifying effective cleaning techniques and throat wear/ cracking issues. It will take u some time to learn what to pay attention to.
Try keeping a picture record of the throat condition vs round count. That should give u a visual reference when problems surface.
