Scope,mount and ammo?

Wow. Seems like a steal.
check it out, they will rent you a rifle and scope , and sell you Hornady ammo if you don't have your own,,Dusty how much you going to charge to teach me to shoot,,I got a
rem. model 788 w/9 lug bolt,straight 6 mm rem.,,no scope,,

Agree. My 2¢, These super extended long range "schools" are just another creative method to lighten shooter's wallets.:p:D
I completely agree with you there there are courses taught at our range (in Canada) Defensive shooting courses. We live in canada and don’t have a stand your ground law. So taking these courses are utterly useless. I however am planning a trip back to Alberta from Ontario to see my folks, it’s been 5yrs. So I thought I would do this course as it’s only an hour driving from their house. Plus other than my great uncle whom has a 4 section cattle ranch (Alberta)I will rarely get the chance to shoot out to these ranges. I have hit steel at 1250m .308win consistently. At the petawawa and Bordin military bases here. They open their range to the public periodically. Usually for F-class events.

To be taught marksmanship by record holder such as Rob Furlong will be fun and I am sure he will teach me.

I just wanna have fun and learn a little bit a long the way.

A little more info helps. Sounds like a good trip. Hope the weather gods are in your favor. Have fun.

I guess I should have been clearer. I wanted to know what people would use for optics mounts ect ect. I did not realize that Accurate Shooter has devolved to ARF.com and CGN. People cast quick judgement without knowing my skill level or shooting history. For all any of you know I could be ex-JTF2 (I am not). I however have been shooting since I was 4yrs old. I live and work 2 min from one of Ontario’s biggest ranges and put more rounds down range in a year than most will do in their lives. I tons of trigger time. Yet The 1st Chairborn swoop in and drop troll bombs. Quite disappointing when the original question was a bout optic and mounts.

Thank you

I think guys are wanting you to take Carefull thoughtful consideration into your build, given the goals youve placed on yourself.
Nor is anybody knocking your abilities.

South prairie Jim did give you solid economical advise as to optics.
If you mount a SWFA 3x15 on a 20 moa rail go with Burris rings you'll easily get 200 minutes of adjustment not counting the hashmarks on the glass.
You my friend are a welcome member, and we truly want to know what and how works for ya.

Thanks for the reply I know the 7mm is capable of this shot it’s been done before (watch the link below). If I can push a .308 1250m I think the 7mm should do 2500m. The cold bore shot is just a personal goal (possibly a pipe dream). I figure once I have a table of firing solutions I might be able to get a cold bore. I might be a fluke but I’ll take it. I have looked at the IOR stuff, too much $$$. The Norma brass alone will cost me $800 Canadian pesos (that’s my girlfriends cost on it too). Love the Ivey mount, thought crossed my mind lots of $$$$ and I would rather put it on a caliber more worthy of it, like .408 Cheytac or my brother in laws Cadex Tremor in 50BMG.

And WITH A BIPOD . Dang the world must be flat , the moon made of cheese and a 22 lr can go 600 yds with 1 shot hits .
It's on the innerweb !!!!!!!!

Fill out your profile please .
I'm tired of wasting time if you can't have the time to fill it out !
All I know is you watch to many videos . Get some real trigger time and save you money , stop wasting time on the u tube channel , maybe a par time job . Then you'll have the $ for proper equipment and trigger time .
The 50 bmg isn't the round I'd use either .

Wow, again I am at the range today and everyday rain or shine I also put a minimum of twenty rounds daily down range. I work at a range in Southern Ontario one of the biggest. I would have to say your reply is wasting everybody’s time. I was asking for gear suggestions not for weather or not I could achieve the shot. I was told about this video by a customer (at the RANGE)when I was talking about my new rifle. The 7mm. Again your attitude is unwarranted and unneeded. If you don’t have any suggestions as far as gear, cool don’t say anything. Pass over the thread or move onto ARF.com I am sure your pessimistic opinions and poor attitude will fit in just fine.

In closing I could suggest you get some range time. Instead of trolling threads.

You just come on and we’ll figure something out.

And sorry but if you think your link to a video has anything constructive to add to your goals please explain how . I appreciate your 20 shots down range , it still doesn't account for expecting a 7 to go that far without a lot more work . I do about 100-200 a day at home with a pellet rifle . Extended ranges when I can't get to the local centerfire range . Trigger time , wind and drop apply to most all projectiles.
The further you push a , say 22 lr the more you'll learn about the laws of physics ( I'm no scholar)
My response was at best a little off but it's about as reasonable as you supplied info and goals .
Experience?
Not just range master?
Reloading experience
Reloading supplies
Shooting supplies , front rest , bags , etc
All info you asked for is easily bought
Buy the best you can afford , survey the current winners at the goal you want to shoot .
Practice . At that range every breath , 1/10 grain difference, familiarity with your gear , and again practice.
Sorry if I came off cheeky but some questions are just seeming to be " look at what I'm doing " if yours isn't , like I said more info is really needed

Wish I could get SWFA up here but alas ITAR strikes again. I would use the millet LRS I have but I don’t trust the ruggedness of it. I would rather not shell out the money for the course and have a PRC made scope break. It’s fine for at my home range. But I am literally two minutes from home.

And my girl owns the store on the range. I really hope to prove concept on this one. I won’t be going till next year. But I will be developing loads for this so on and so on. V

Okay, well let’s not get derailed here that I you for your response

History grew up in southern alberta
Age 4 first gopher hunting trip my dad got me shooting 22lr at pop cans. Fast forward age seven receive my very own Cooey 60 repeater which I was allowed full control over on gopher hunts. From a very early age 5 and young I reloaded ammo and fix/maintained my grandfathers collections of colt revolvers and Winchester rifles (loading black powder and casting lead bullets). Age 9 my first elk hunt on horse back in kanaskis country. My grandfather gave me a 30-06 as my rifle. First hunt first kill. I spent almost my whole life somehow around firearms.

Fast forward I am now 40 I have a vast collection of handguns and rifles. I also have lots of reloading equip I water volume my cases cull anything out by a 10th grain. Primer pocket uniform and flash hole, check base to ogive on my projectiles. I even weigh my primers. I am that anal. Powder thrown by a gem 6 confirmed on a gem pro. Both scales verified by check weights. Shoot loads round robin 10shot groups. After doing a 10shot string over a chrony. Consistently my loads are in the single digit SD’s. In fact you post about 22lr and pellets is ironic. I was shooting both today. Red riders with the kids and the savage 22lr at the range out to 100yrds. I completly agree with you that trigger time is far more valuable than Gadgets. I apologize if I came across as being a mall ninja or a poser that wants to play sniper. I’m not I am just a dude who grew up with and loves shooting .

That's why I think the profile page is a little help making sure that your not 18 yrs old and want to skip the hardships, training , dedication etc that it takes .
Can you purchase any good Russian optical equipment? I'm not even sure they are in the same league as what's currently offered here but they use to be .
I use to shoot the 7 x300 Weatherby 32" at Williamsport. The 7 is slippery but back then the 6.5 had no good bullets .
My 1000 yds ancient goals only can compare in what I suggested before
Practice, buy the best you can and see what others are using at that range ( not only distance ) wind and in turn mirage is different at each range and may be helpful in setting or choosing your position lane ( if possible)
You have some good equipment and the distance is going to require a special mount . I would invest in the best currently adjustable mount with the possibilities of needing to change scopes .
Good luck . Again sorry
Taking the 22lr to 300 yds with std vel 28" barrel required 59 min of adj. it's great practice and see you already at it . Still requires a range , co2 pellet at 540 fps at 50 yds about replicate my 22 lr . At least with the pellet , I can change ammo weight , shape and dial in a little easier than the 22lr

Ugh don’t get me started. Good lord our prime ministers a douche bag. I have thought of this I before I live half hour from Niagara Falls. Thought I’d order it to a border shipping address and pick it up. But customs often set up checks mid bridge and I don’t want to go to prison in up state New York for a 400 dollar optic. Well wouldn’t for anything really.

Bummer you can't order one I don't get really but best of luck

Buy it here, then mail it to yourself. Might throw in some jeans n shirts for extra padding.

Lol. No worries my girl owns a gun store and her parents own the range. I see a lot of the top tier gear posers daily. One kid had a tweaked TRG topped with a Steiner. Our max range is 200yds at the moment. He comes in drop a mint on reloading gear had to have everything I had on my bench. So I sell him all the stuff I have. He comes in the next day with a target looks like it was blasted with 00 buck. He then proceeds to tell me I have no clue about reloading.

So I ask can I see you shoot? We jaunt down range with a fresh box of GMM, I watch him shoot ten rounds every one of them he flinches. Then tells me the round is no good. I shoot the next ten easily under MOA. I then proceeded to tell to buy a .22lr. To hopefully ditch his horrible flinch. Too many video games. Don’t get me started about the SKS owners who think its a sniper rifle.

Tell me more about the Russian optics. Could be something new for the store.

The attached pic is 200yds FV-SR savage s&b standard velocity. The thirty cal hole is not mine. It was my last 4 22lr rounds.

Have a goodnight.

So Ivey’s sights been hacked? I went last night to look at their systems. It’s no longer there. I kinda have a new stratagie. I was thinking spend the money and get a top tier scope. Since all my rifles have badger ord or EGW rails have a adjustable moa base and bounce it from rifle to rifle. I can bore sight in minutes. Do it for the weekend warriors every fall hunting season.

Anyone ever use the MOAB? I don’t think it’s a quick release system. It would be nice. As I have a collection of remys in various calibers. To train practice and use the same optic. Even down to the 22 and 22WMR Savage FV-SR’s.
