Ejector or not?

I received a Savage bolt from Midway without an ejector. Is there any advantage to just plugging the hole? Used for target shooting.

Yes , your brass doesn't end up dinged on the neck from being dragged against the receiver and you don't have to bend over trying to retrieve your brass .
Most from midway don't come with one . It usually says it in the add
 
There is no need to plug the hole. if you start seeing the hole imprint on your brass, your loads are too hot.

Even a soft load flows in and scrapes off from what ive seen. I just use a brass rod the right diameter and never have had an issue
