Primer Pocket Uniforming - Which Tool is Best

I have a number of 6mm BR Lapua cases now Dasher cases that won't take a Tula 556M primer, using a Lee Primer Tool, which I have used for years. These cases have been fired in practice using CCI primers which fit fine but the larger sized Tula's won't go. I do have a lot of 6 times fired cases that have expanded just enough that the Tula's fit perfectly, nice and snug without requiring too much force to seat them.

I have enough of those cases that I'd consider getting a primer pocket uniformer, but I don't want to enlarge it too much that the fit get sloppy and ruins the case life. Thanks.

i do not believe a UNIFORMER will help..they are typically for uniform DEPTH.
i have no issue with the russian primers and lapua brass.
consider a slight radius at the mouth( a swager, or cutter)

They don't fit, as in the diameter of the Tula primer is too big? Primer pocket uniformer isn't going to help you. I use a 21st Century tool. It doesn't do anything to the diameter (I don't want it to), only the depth.

So you want sloppy primer pockets when you load CCI;s, WW or Rems later???? I just this morning loaded Lapua brass with Tula Russian primers with no problem.

I had some Peterson brass that was tight and I used a Lyman uniformer to take the slight radius off the bottom of the primer pocket and that helped to seat them It did not make them deeper or bigger, just uniform. I also use a bench mounted tool. I don't think I could have primed them with the Lee tool. Hope this helps.

Where did you hear that? The last I checked they were made in the U.S.
I thought i read this in one of the gun magazines where Obama was considering baning all foreign imports of ammunition, powder and primers. In the end they just did Russia. But i thought CCI primers were included in the Roundup.

But as shown i stand corrected. I will also add that except for the Remington 6 1/2 primers for my 17 Hornet every thing else is CCI in my closet.

I had actually had called Federal a while back. Had a question concerning thier
sr match primers vs sr AR match.
Cup thickness was only difference, same amount of go go juice/ heat from what I was told.
Anyhow when I called automated recording stated CCI Federal.

You do realize that a primer pocket uniformer only cuts on the end and alters pocket depth and has no cutting edges on the side...don't you??

I thought so, but wasn't sure. I tried chamfering the pocket, didn't help much. I think a new tool is warranted and I have lots of 7 1/2's that should work just fine. I'll save the Tula's for older case life.
