60 gr TMK?

I really like the looks of, the 69 gr TMK, with a BC of, .370ish, for my upcoming, .22-250 AI, 1-9 tw ! I've read lots of great things about, the accuracy and expansion, on rabbit's & coyotes with, this Bullet. There's some YouTube vid's showing, promising results. My AI will be built around, two Bullets,.. the 69 gr TMK for yotes and the 70 gr Berger VLD for Targets/ Steel. But I'm hoping the Sierra's are as accurate as, the Berger's to save, a few Dollars per 100 ( IF possible ) LOL !

I have an 8 twist 22 Lapua and I’ve shot several bullets in it. So far, the best combination of accuracy and SD have come from the 80.5 Berger and the 70 Nosler RDF. You won’t be able to shoot the 80.5 as you know, but the 70 RDF should be good for all your intended purposes. Definitely worth a try, and shot best .020 off in my rifle.

I'd like to know their intended use . I have my doubts that a 12 twist 223 would stabilize them, but maybe a faster cartridge would? If not, I'm not sure why they exist.

So I picked up 500 of them from Midway. Oddly, the 500 round bulk box is marked "100 bullets #7160C."

I loaded 25 in 223 Remington cases today with Varget for a rifle of mine with a PTG match chamber (.252 neck, .040 freebore for 55-69 grain bullets, reamer/print #36963.) The rifle has about 1000 rounds through it so the throat is still pretty fresh.

I found that the 60 TMK's are so long and pointy from tip to ogive that to load them at .010 out from the lands, they were barely engaging the case neck. These bullets are clearly designed for a short throated rifle. I loaded them to achieve full neck engagement and was about .075 out from land engagement!!

I wonder if they are a one-off run? They are cheap and I think only Midway has them from what I can tell.

I won't shoot them until later in the week but will report back. We'll see.

Sorry, cannot post pictures, too complicated.

I shot these today. Can't say I'm impressed. Won't buy any more.

Loaded at .075 out didn't do real well. Had a couple groups with three of four shots clustered tight, potential half inch groups at 100 yards, then a flyer or two opening up to an inch. Also, even loaded deep, I could not use them in the magazine of my Remington 700 ADL action since they were too long OAL.

I also noticed that the box says "10" twist or faster." Not surprised due to the length of the bullet but unusual for only a 60 grain bullet.

Sierra still doesn't list these on their website so I wonder if they just didn't work out in testing and are a one-off run.

I'm not sure what the use for these would be. Throat would have to be short to even be close to the rifling given the short ogive section, but most rifles with 1-10" or faster twist are typically set up for longer, heavier bullets. Even then, they'd have to be single loaded due to OAL. Kind of strange.

At this point, I'll probably just try to load them deep for AR-15 use if I can get them to an OAL that will work in the mag and use them for plinking. Not sure if that will work.

I've shot the other TMK's also. .308 in 155, 168, and 175 weights and wasn't impressed either. Shot okay but length made magazine use impossible.

YMMV. Would like to hear from others.

I bought a box of factory loaded 69gr TMK's in .223 from Creedmoor Sports to try them out.
I shot this 10rd group off a bipod and rear bag prone out of a Savage Model 12 FCV 1-9 twist. That's a pretty good group for my skill level.

I ordered 500 of them from Bruno's. I'm going to try them with Varget and CCI #400 primers. The Creedmoor OAL is 2.2465

I've been shooting the Hornady 60 grain Vmax in my 223 Tikka with an 8" twist and H4895. With the ogive of this bullet it's quite easily to seat the bullet at close to the lands as you dare and still have ample bullet depth in the neck at least in this rifle. I've shot a number of sub 1/2" groups with this combo which isn't bad for me or a sporter weight rifle.

Surprisingly, this bullet shot better in this rifle that the more expensive 60 grain Nosler.

When I saw this 60 TMK in the new Midway Reloading Catalog I plan to try it when I place my next Midway order. The impressive BC for a 60 grain bullet got my attention.
