SOLO Electronic Target System

I have spent the last week Beta testing the new SOLO (by Silver Mountain Targets). They are insuring they work for anyone! That is why they had me do testing:-) I am very impressed with the system. I have been to the 1,000 yard range 4X’s and had no problems. The amount of information you can learn/get from this system is immense. To name a few: vel at the target, SD, group size ES (w/height & width), score, time/date shot, X&Y value for each shot location (to enable accurate corrections) and shows each shot as it arrives at the target. If you have shot on SMT’s before the display is the same.

My first shot ever on the system was an X at 6 o’clock (I was holding off for wind). I went down to the target to calibrate as instructed and the shot was off by about 1/8”. Unbelievable! I was sold! I’ve been told the first systems will arrive in the States next week.

can you give us a bit more details about the scoring accuracy of this system?
gilmillan1,
I haven’t made any professional measurement tests and even if I had I would not publish them. I try to leave that type of stuff to the manufactures’ of equipment. I can say with no reservation that it’s accuracy, in my experience is well under the NRA’s 0.25” rule. Keep in mind the location of a shot depends on the frame setup and the degree in which you accurately measure the sensor positions. Plus your calibration. Read & follow all the instructions to the letter. I will hazard a guess and say the SMT SOLO is at least as accurate as the other SMT systems used at ranges around the country to host major championships.

Actually I made it 46"W x 48" H so it would fit in the back of my mini van. That is the out side dimensions of the frame itself. See this link for SOLO's idea for a frame - http://silvermountaintargetsusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/SOLO-Sample-Frame.pdf The frame you use can be any size you want. Bigger or smaller. Most ET's use 6' x 6' at 1,000 yards.

Did you use the target you made at 1000 yards? I like your idea where you make it to fit the car you are transporting in.

Thank and I'm on the list for one of the Solo's when the next shipment come in. this beats any camera system.
So i ordered my Solo from Silver Mountain and it will be tomorrow and i can mount the senors. Looking forward in using this system. I finished my stand today and working on the targets. This weekend i will begin the practice. This is going to be fun. I made my target fram 37” W X 47 “ H so that I can get it into the SUV.

Jimmy,
Nice looking frame, but you should have bought a mini-van:) Those extra 4.5 inches on each side might come in handy at 1k. Pay close attention to the spacing of the sensor mounting brackets and measure the distances closely so you can post them into the software. Enjoy!

So that is a question i was going to ask. Is the measurements from center to center of the senors? Or base to base

Great, let me know how it goes. Sensor measurements are center to center, but the easiest way is to measure horizontal measurements from left edge of one to left edge of the other. Same for vertical, measure top of one to top of the other. Do you have a frame? We have a sample frame design I could send you.

If i had a truck it would be no problem. The outside frame is 45” so I can get into the SUV hehehhee. We will be ok I will still be able see the 1000 yard Center even though it’s smaller. You know and I know it’s about the center anyway. I think the smaller the face the better you get in practice so when you see that BIG target at 1000, it’s a bit easier so to speak.
