I would just use the .338 win since you are already using the long action. Your 06 case is a little small for heavy 338 bullets. Would be better if you were interested in the 200-210 range.Who has pushed the Improved 06 & 270 .338's? I'm considering one for High BC 250's & 260's Grainers. What can this Cartridge Theory do under 800 Meters? 338 Bullets just have so many options available it's got me curious.
Have not seen that data. Agree, a 250 at 2700 is plently.good enoughI dunno boggs, there is a considerable following for the .338 Federal & .35 Whelen. You have to admit Hand loads on HGT could eclipse factory Win Mag loads. There's just not really a need for a Magnum.
Might I add, Load data.com lists a 250 Sierra Grain using W-275 @ 2702
What is the case capacity of the .338 Sherman?Sherman's Version has gotten Tremendous Results with over 2800 with 260's. Google:

What is the case capacity of the .338 Sherman?
That explains it. That is a lot of capacity. Much more than I thought.Fired Norma cases average 77.0 grains from my 338 Sherman.
Herbert Troester Wrote an article about a Cartridge he developed in August 1981 for a Magazine. It comes up on Google Searches, but for how long nobody knows. Modern Powders should do wonders for his Design.So........for the uncool kids. Please explain or define HGT?
