Help me select a 6mm Cartridge for my next rifle.

6BRX
Easy to load, easy on brass
 
Just my personal opinion, but I don't think you can really go wrong with almost any 6mm. Everyone has their favorites for whatever reasons. I have the 6mm Remington. Only drawback is no Lapua brass. Others I would consider are 6mm XC, 6mm Creedmoor, 6X47 Swiss Match. For me, I eliminate anything with small primers for logistical reasons. The alleged claim that the base is stronger is a non issue to me.
 
For F-class mid-range (or even 1000 on mild days)…. There is only one 6BRA.

The non-existent recoil, the low cost, etc..
The ease to form cases...I have shot 599 in a 600 yard match with decent x count at 600 yards while fireforming after I put the first 25 rounds down the barrel for break in.

30.0gr Varget, CCI450, Hybrid 105 Jumping 15. <= If this don't shoot 1/2 MOA over 10 rounds, something else is wrong.

30.9gr H4895, CCI450, Hybrid 105 Jumping 4 <== My pet load that has done very well lately in a "hummer" of a barrel.

I haven't shot a 200-20x with it yet, but I have been close several times.

I have tried both Krieger and Bartlien, and I shoot a straight 30" Bartlien 1:8 with Custom JGS Reamer ;)

A BR is winning most matches I go to.
Of course the shooter is good at It no matter the cal.
I think I may go to a br next barrel. Just for the ease of no fire forming.
I'm shooting a bra and I have good results but there is that 400 shots ff brass.

And I'll add ... I took the break off and after 30 rounds my damn arm hurt ....kicks pretty good with no break.
 
I have 6mmBR, 243, and 6mmRem reamers.

I like 6mmBR the best and shot a couple antelope with a very lightweight one I built.

Where would you anticipate sourcing brass on an ongoing basis now that Bullets.com is going out of business?

Off the wall a little bit, but in order to preserve my 7mm investment, I went to a 6.5x47 Lapua necked up to 7mm. It’s shooting great. Dies are stupid easy, and I’d be happy to loan you my reamer.

You really need to decide what you want. Saying "for sure at 600 yards, and maybe 1000" doesn't help. I love my 6BR for 600 yards but not 1000yards. If you want to shoot at 600 yards and 1000 yards get a rifle that you know is good for both. How do you plan to see "how it compares with my current 284-Win rifle"?
 
The consensus so far favors the 6mm BRA, but just barely, as is understandable since these cartridges are very similar. A good thing is that they can all share the same action, which will likely be an F-Class Panda, so I can start working on that. Not even close to a decision on a stock yet.

The reason I mentioned the possibility of both 600 and 1000 yards is that I have witnessed excellent shooting at both ranges with the same 6mm cartridge; namely a TAC40. I suspect that other shooters may have had similar results with one of the other 6mm’s.

It appears that any of the 6mm’s will work fine at 600 yards, so it will be a question of just selecting one and trying it. And while it may be a different story for 1000 yards, I would always have my trusty 284Win for that.

"Reinvent the wheel"? Gotta say....I'v been to MANY, MANY 1000 yard bench shoots, a number of 600 bench shoots, and a number of 600/1000 F class shoots. I have NEVER seen a 243 on the line.

So, the 243 Win might be a wheel, but it is either made of stone or unobtainiem, because I have never seen one compete.

Not saying it won't shoot...it's just that BBL life isn't all that good, and why not use a wheel that better fits the job requirements.
