Fired brass with oil on it. I'll bet you've all done it after resizing....

How do you know that is what happened? I have used the Sinclair sizing oil for resizing and used a ultra sonic vibrator with the recommended solution to take it off, but the first 10 minutes of solution did NOT take off the oil. I should have run the brass through clean water and then done it again for 10 minutes. I was test firing after the first batch and I noticed cratering of the primers... even before the power got too strong. I'm thinking this might have been some of the oil was still on the cases. I hope you experienced guys will let me know. thanks

I use mineral spirits on a rag to remove die wax. Works like a charm and a lot less rubbing than with a dry rag.

Not sure how imparting any type of oil, water, lube into a chamber can have good results. I clean mine, even wipe dust off after tumbling. I've dropped rds in fine sand and not cleaned them off, just fired them, it was like making non skid surface tape.

I use carburetor cleaner to get the lube off my sized brass. Mean stuff to work with, but it sure does the job! Oily cases do a lot to increase back thrust on a bolt's locking lugs.

It helps if you're fire forming cases.

I'm not understanding the logic behind cratering and sizing lube. Can someone explain how the two are related?
