Dead Zero Tenn 1000yd matches

Guys,
I just saw this thread. Everything is open at Dead Zero except for the high power range. We are working hard on getting it finished. There is about 150,000yds of dirt to move so it is a big endeavor. After surveying the work last weekend, I believe it will be May or June before it is complete. The rain and super cold weather has slowed us down. You can't compact berms with frozen dirt. I am a Commercial/Industrial Construction Manager for a local General Contractor. I can tell you without hesitation that the owner wants to build the best High power range possible. We spent a year planning it. He will not rush construction and produce an inferior product just to get it complete.

We will host high power prone and F Class, benchrest, fullbore, Palma, ATC, and maybe even some 300 meter matches. I will run the prone/Fclass matches. 1 day match fees will be well under $50. I am working on a schedule, but need to make sure we don't plan too early for completion. I have schedules for Mid South Marksmen at AEDC and ORSA as well. I will schedule around matches them. Both venues hold great matches and the directors are first class. We will add opportunities to shoot when matches aren't scheduled there. I promise that everyone will know well in advance of our opening. As far as I know, it will be the only North facing 1,000yd range in the Southeast. Stay tuned, and feel free to ask any questions.

And Rtheurer,
you just made the list buddy!

Why because people on here that don't know the range is not even ready yet are asking questions about the summer program and schedule.....
How about we let them get the range done before we go asking the above questions. EVERY RANGE I have been involved with in being built took twice as long as expected and cost about as much.
I for one am very excited about this Range. Think I will Move right next door.

Will the range be affiliated with IBS or NBRSA?

I am not a BR shooter, but I am consulting with a couple of people who are. We will be affiliated with most of the organization in the shooting sports in order to hold registered matches people want to attend.

put me on the list too !;)

Thanks, great to hear. We're always interested in new ranges. I think with your location sanctioned BR matches would be well attended.

Gonna be great having matches close. I drive by the range a couple times a week or more. Looking forward to trying long range br. I have a range close to dead zero and the wind is tricky on top of that hill. Gonna be a blast.

Any updates?
I stopped by about 3 weeks ago and talked to the lady at the pro shop, she said they were discussing getting one electronic target to put at 50 yards to see how people liked it and of course the wet weather has them behind but they were working on the rifle range. It’s so close for me I hope they get it done fast and matches come! Especially benchrest matches. Troy
