Anyone hunting with 6Grendel?

I recently discovered the 6Grendel/ 243LBC/etc. and I'm totally impressed. My rifle is an AR15 based with a 22" barrel with a 1-8" twist. I have shot everything from 65 gr. to 105 gr. bullets with very good results but they were all target type bullets I drew a buck pronghorn tag and would like to try this rifle on the hunt. Anyone out there using this round for hunting? Can you share a load using a hunting bullet? Thanks in advance for any information

Berger and Nosler both have reloading data on this caliber and the factory Les Baer ammo, made by Black Hills, is a friggen tack driving machine. Try one of these and I think you will find one that shoots. My Les Baer .264 shoots 1/4 minute and I’m sure one of those choices would do the job.|

It kills hogs, deer, coyotes etc..better than any other round I have used.

I use the factory 123 SST ammo without any reservation for hunting. You can load for it...but why?

I would not hesitate to shoot a pronghorn at 400 yards with mine using that ammo.

Bad shot placement with any caliber, will provide marginal results. Accuracy and placement are critical. Try the box ammo, you might be suprised!

Thanks for the replies but I should have been clearer in my request. I know it goes by a variety of names but it's the 6.5 Grendel necked down to 6mm that I'm hoping to get more information on. I've owned three 6.5 Grendels and still have an 18" version that I am very happy with but the 6mm version is a new toy. Thanks again for any information.

My .234 AI with 1:8 likes the 100 grain Sierra SBT's. I stopped using them on Coyotes because it was tearing too big of a hole in them.

Have several 6ARs for target shooting, but If I was going to load and hunt with one, I would use the 105 Berger Hunting VLD and H4895.

I have used it on pigs and deer. 75 gr Hornady varmint bullet works well for me out to 200 yards. I have not shot an animal passed that.

Thanks for the information. Good to hear that a 75 grain bullets work well on deer I've killed pronghorn with a variety of calibers but nothing smaller than a .260. Time to go buy a couple different hunting bullets and start testing some test loads.

I shoot the 6mmAR.....haven't hunted with it yet though. I'd be willing to bet that the Sierra 85 BTHP Gameking would be the perfect bullet for your application. A proven bullet that's very accurate to boot.

I almost built a 6mm Grendel but built a 6x6.8 instead (a tad bigger case). My bullet preference for antelope/deer out here is the 95g nosler hunting BT, IMO it out performs the 85g sierra. Both are very accurate but after shooting many antelope with both I only use the noslers now. I feel they dump much more energy into the goats/deer vs the 85g sierras. From my own meat processing the noslers do much more internal damage. I have had goats (not all of them) run 40-90 yds after putting the 85g sierra into them from 125 to 375 yds. Tops of heart gone and lungs jelly after opening them up, but never more than 2-3 steps with the noslers from 80-515 yds. Exit holes when they happen are pretty much the same size. Both will be very accurate, both will do the job on an antelope/deer. Speeds from 2983 to 3117 in my rig. I do use the 85g BTHP strictly in my 6x45 though.

I’d probably load them with a 100gr Nosler Partition and just keep the range below 300. Plenty of Pronghorns have fallen to 243 Winchester’s over the years.
