A&D FX-120i Thrower and Trickler Questions

For those that got the full setup, is everything controlled from settings on the scale, or do you have to make some adjustments directly on the thrower or trickler also?

I noticed Cambridge Enviro sells power adapters for $20 to supply power to the thrower and trickler. Do you need separate power adapters for those or is there a jumper plug or something so you only need one, or maybe you power both of them from the power supply on the A&D FX-120i so you don’t need to buy the power adapter?

Mine came with a special power supply in addition to the one that must normally ship with the scale. The special one is rated for more amperage. Both the trickler and the thrower are then powered by the scale.

The thrower is a Lee. You do need to adjust it so that it throws your target charge minus 3-4 grains, then the trickler finishes the job. You adjust the speed of the trickler by angling it slightly towards or away from the scale. I have a single sheet of paper under the scale side of mine.

Everything you need comes in the full kit, less a calibration weight. If you want one of those you need to order it separately.

Thanks guys. I just ordered the scale / thrower / trickler with the 100 gm weight. Can’t wait to get started using it.

You will love it once you get it set up. Reloading goes so much faster and accurately. For me, +/- .02 grains.
Just two quick tips.

(1) For over throws, place a folded piece of paper, under the front end of the trickler, so it is ever so slightly leaning backwards.
(2) For a powder pan, use a 1/4 cup, metal measuring cup. It has a longer handle and is deeper than what comes with the scale. Powder tends to bounce out of the supplied pan.

Good luck.. Enjoy

i'm not an expert but both the thrower and the trickler plug into the back of the scale itself. that is where they get their power

you may get 2 seperate 120v wall plug power adapters,, they both plug into the back of the scale but one will have a higher amp rating on it,,in small letter,, and use that one, not the other one..,,, they include the other one because it originally came with the scale for non-reloading applications

you will have to make small adjustments to the the thrower with the obvious metering screw knob and like the other gentleman said, tilt the trickler with paper or some other shim.

the trickler has a habit of vibrating/moving depending on the surface so keep an eye on it.
