17 CCM?

Got a Cooper hand me down in 17 CCM. Looks like necked down 22 CCM, with just enough case head for a SR Primer.

Anyone heard of it?

Yes, the 17 Cooper Centerfire Magnum. It is the 22CCM necked down to 17 cal. Came out in 1990.

Go to Saubier.com for a lot of loading info. Brass is hard to locate, but there's a guy in California that makes it from 22 Hornet brass. I believe his last name is Schroeder. There's info about him on the website.

If you need brass, i have roughly 1000rds of it. It's the good fiocchi brass.

It's a great little round. Try 9-9.2gr 1680 with 20 gr slugs, sm pistol primer. Both Vmax and Bergers shoot well in mine.

Thanks, glad to know the 20gr will work. I've got a supply of old berger 18gr, but I don't think they'll be making more.

Does anyone if Cooper ever made a Model 38 in 17ccm in a pistol? I recently been came across one and was trying to verify if it is a factory gun or something that was made after market.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I have seen them years ago. Have seen a couple come to auction during the past few years too.

I’ve seen a picture of a Cooper center fire pistol built by them awhile ago.
I was under the impression it was a one off.Very rare for sure.

Brings to mind the old adage “beer money and champagne taste” I guess I’ll have to get a 17WSM barrel for my Contender.I wonder in an Annie would hold up to a 17 WSM.
I wish someone made something like that currently.

Got a reply from Cooper firearms 1of 3 special build pistols. Right now 700 unformed 22ccm, complete die set, and some formed and fired cases.

I am trying to help a friend sell this set up to pay medical bills. Does anyone have any idea of a fair price for something like this. I am a Palma shooter and out of my knowledge zone. I would like to see a shooter get this then sit in a safe.

There were a few different runs of brass. Some of it is better than others. It can be worth $1 or more a piece. Dies are probably worth $100 or more if they are in great shape. I don't really have an idea what the pistol is worth since I've never seen one sell before. I wouldn't expect it to go cheap though.
