My eight year old....

Fantastic!

Women are natural shooters.I'd strongly suggest some archery to compliment their firearm handling. They both build a hard to describe confidence that honestly, just can't be done with other sports. The playing field is much closer to men with shooting. My 7 1/2 y.o. Gdaughter shot an excellent 3D tourney last weekend with her new recurve. She's grown up around shooting and has really paid bennies in her general attitude and a polite confidence.

Great pic,thanks for sharing.

Dunno what part of the country you are all in. None the less I will put in a kick for the 4H shooting sports. A good program that needs folks to keep this going for the young generations.

I always root for the girls! Good job to both young ladies!

Angelina calls California home. That photo was a match at Ben Avery Shooting Facility, Phoenix Arizona. We have a JUNIOR category, 18 and under. usually 2-4 participants. We once had 8 Juniors on the line (4 Girls) in the Unlimited Class. Tony DeBacco 17 years old posted a 1876 Grand Agg in the December Unlimited match whooping up on 3 Hall of Fame shooters (including Walt Berger, Lester Bruno and Gary Ocock) and 32 other notable shooters

I bet both of those girls would enjoy shooting much more if the butt stocks were shorter so they had the proper "fit"?
Find a beater stock, hack the butt area off about 6" and see how much better it fits them. My bet is both of those girl's arms are way to short? The proper stock fit would do wonders for the siting in process. And you can replace the short stock as the girls grow.
Just shipped a cut off 10/22 to a young boy. Fit like a glove and now the only problem is the Dad's ammo is going away.;):p

Angelina shoots a custom Scarborough stock free recoil in L V

This stock fits Lainie just fine; it's a Chipmonk .22. I checked the zero out on the rifle before she started using it. I had her dry firing here and then she put the safety glasses on! I've trained all my grandchildren to learn how to use IRON SIGHTS first...as the trend these days is that most kids don't know squat about how to use aperture sights!

That IS a good fit. At her shoulder and her arm is bent. Some of the others have the stock "under the arm/shoulder" and they're reaching for a grip. A shorter LOP would solve a lot of "their" fit problems.
I also have a Chipmonk. I use mine for big game hunting.:D Good little rifle, even for us old guys.;)

granddaughter Lainie is doing very well with taking instruction. During this session from 60 yards she shot ten shots that could be covered with a quarter coin. Listens very well and applies what has been shown her!

Good for you for taking the time to get her started! Looks like she is really doing great!
