New March scope coming on 9 March 2018 - The Genesis

Just saw a sneak peak on face book of a March 6-60×56 FFP. Not sure what market this is aimed at, tactical elr?
 
6 - 60 FFP . The bar just got moved significantly higher .

Actually, there are interesting ways to mitigate the apparent growth of the reticle. We are looking at a 10X expansion of the reticle but you are also shrinking the FOV so a very thin line in the aiming middle at 1X will grow to reveal more detail at 10X that is simply invisible at the low zoom ratio.

I have a March 3-24×42, which is a FFP scope, at 3x the FMA1 ret. pretty much looks like a fine crosshair which is fine because your using it for close range. When you crank it up a very useful reticle is revealed for the long shots. I love it, Barry.

Exactly. When you're using a pedestrian 3X zoom, you just get used to watching the reticle grow. When you're pushing the envelope with 8X and 10X zooms, you need to be creative. March is nothing if not creative.
 
I dont want a heavy reticle for aiming at a 1000 yard target. Prefer a small dot or an open center like the TMR. Need to see that 3 inch circle and aim at it. Actually you have a 4 inch white square surrounded by blue. Hard to shoot 3 inch groups if the crosshair is big. Matt

Do you see how the big lines at 3X (1X zoom) have disappeared and you now have a nice reticle at 24X (8X zoom)?
 
I'm sure there will be a segment of shooters that are excited about this scope. I don't see the value for F-Class (or BR for that matter), honestly. But then again, I don't see the value in variable power that goes below 20X - 25X. Seems like a waste to me. The fact that it's a FFP detracts a bit more for me (I don't like my reticle changing size on me when I have a fixed distance target of known size; again, I see no value in that feature). It'll be interesting to see if guys in my discipline give a try though.

Ya, i would consider a 25-55×52 or 56 (I'm always between 40 and 50) to be all we need in LR BR or F-class and it would probably give it a better eye box. I would like to see them back the leaf spring with a coil spring (Tucker Conversion) as well to aid in better holding of poa.
 
Just saw specs released from IWA trade show .

6 - 60 power FFP
400 MOA elevation travel
150 MOA windage travel
50 MOA per rotation
High Master glass
Integral precision aligned mounts
Zero set

Not going to suit short range BR , but for those of us
shooting Extreme Long Range this is excellent news .
The ability to easily dial elevation to 3 miles in a big
magnum without hinky adjustable bases is priceless .

Couple of quick initial observations.

I'm guessing this is the start of a new series of scopes that will use the Genesis system to allow for huge adjustment ranges. If you're going to make a splash introducing a new technology, there's nothing wrong with going extreme right off the bat to establish the parameters.

March DEON have just moved the goalposts into the next Zip code; it's a whole ne ball game now, if I may be permitted to mix my metaphors.

I notice that the 400MOA of adjustment range is divided into 300MOA up and 100MOA down. That's 5 degrees of up. I also notice that the view remains through the middle of the objective lens, even at 5 degrees, so you're always looking through the sweet spot of the optics.

The zoom range is 10X, so one could expect such things as 2-20X or 2.5-25 or 3-30X and so on. I don't know how useful 300MOA of up elevation is with a 25X or 30X scope, but the possibility is there.

I also notice the 50MOA per revolution knobs are at the rear instead of the middle. I do not understand the significance of that yet, but I suspect it's a product of the sorcery used to move the FFP image while still looking through the middle of the objective lens.

I can't help but wonder what the significance of the "large spherical slider" is at the junction of the objective bell and the scope body. There seems to be the same apparatus at the rear, where the body joins the ocular. "Central gimbal system with slider bearings"? So this is the sorcery part, and it's patent pending. The gimbal is a single-axis model and is for roll motion. Would this be useful for scope leveling, especially since there are no rings involved in the mount.

So much to learn.
