6 Dasher with 95g FB Bibs

Picking up some 95g FB Bibs for my 6 Dasher. Plan to try them at 300 yard Fclass to see if I can increase that X-count in the early morning with good conditions (like that ever happens).

I have 8208XBR, RL15, Varget, N140, H4895.

Does anyone have any sweet loads that they would like to pass along with any of the above powders? Also, any hints on where these bullets like to be in regards to the lands?

Thanks to anyone.

(Before you say, "just use Hybrids" or (insert favorite 600 yard load here), I know I can do that and likely will, just want to see if I can tighten it up a bit at 300 yards with these bullets).

I think you’re on to something! I don’t have any load info for you but keep us posted! I’m interested on how they shoot for you!

I've shot 95's at 100-400yds in varmint matches for around 10 years out of a 6xc and a 6br. What you're doing is definitely worth a try. Check your private messages. WD

I shot the 95 BIB flatbase in a straight 6 BR. Shot like a laser in our 300 yard varmint matches.

I didn’t have enough freebore and put them away for later use in a 6 Improved with the 104 that they need.

Thanks for all the replies!

One further question, how much higher was your charge with the 95s than the 105g class bullets in the same chambering?

Thanks again.

Via DASHER, using either Varget, or, RL-15, look for around 3150 FPS - at that velocity, at 600 Yd., the drift, for 1MPH is very close to the 105 class 6 mm bullets: 2.6" vs. 2.3" . . . my weird perspective - the winner won't be making any BIG (as in 3+ MPH) mistakes. ;) A couple of years back, my pal, Mike Bigelow, in a wind from hell, at the Vapor-trail facility, shot the 95FBs and finished 2nd in group, 1st in score, 2nd over-all (with my memory, perhaps the reverseo_O edited for correct OAL placement) - there were many DQs [off the paper] that day. Yep, Mike can shoot . . . but, the winner is usually, "living on a different planet", and does just that - out shoots the field!

Comparing drift differential in 5, or 10 MPH segments is a mistake - that leads to the misconception that BC is worth more that is actually is. Make THAT doping error and see what it gets you! There is [almost] always some fool who doesn't know the wind is blowing, "that hard", and is shooting in a <2MPH window; on most days, probably, a velocity window, much narrower than that. RG

P.S. A rifle capable of shooting ZERO groups (who has that one?) @ 600 Yd., in a 2MPH window, would shoot, roughly, 5" groups - a perusal of 600 Yd. bench-rest tournament results will demonstrate that comparing in 1MPH increments is more realistic. ;) Of course, that is the equivalent of a constant and perpendicular wind . . . when/where does that happen?o_O

Interesting points. Thanks for the insight!
