Sinclair Comp Rest Base Plates - Pre-Order Live

There should be no sales tax unless we are delivering to TX. If the website is giving you trouble & adding tax and we aren't shipping to TX, please let me know. We'll need to fix it so we don't have a bunch of refunds to make.

Thanks!

gentlemen,
if you really want a labradar at your bench,
may i suggest you stop and think.
you are at the back of the bench and it is at the front
awkward set up.
consider this set up.
put the lab unit at the back of the bench or mid, and use a
rod mounted microphone as your shot pick up.
all the buttons and the readout is in line of vision/arms reach
do not be constrained by the unit mounted mic.

Down the road, I hope you reconsider doing a similar base for a Farley.

We most likely will. I have about 4 projects in front of them, but there seems to be s lot of interest go the Farley. I need to get my hands on their most popular base to take some measurements. Thanks

He never said he wasn't considering it, just not at this time. Let him get these done and see how it works out for him. There has to be enough demand to make it worth his time. The Sinclair and farley will have the demand. Doubt there are any others that will. I think your patience will be rewarded.

I'll be shooting off mine this Saturday in LG & HG in a 500M Fly shoot. I'm gonna be sloppy/ hard on it and try to shoot fast. Assuming it performs as I expect it to, we'll consider the design finalized and close the pre-orders on Monday, 3/6. Goal date to start shipping is week of 3/26. Thanks for all of the orders & support.

Here's what the current revision looks like/ the one that I'll be shooting this weekend. With some helpful input from others and some testing, the following improvements have been made:

  • Moved the front right leg (as pictured) for better weight distribution & more weight
  • Removed the slots under the center post and the factory carry handle. Once I had one made, I realized the carry handle wouldn't be used. We're using magnetic workholding, so I don't need the center post hole to clamp it down as I originally envisioned. This adds weight, too.
  • Moved the carry handle over for better weight distribution
  • Added two more front left (as pictured) holes for the folks that set up close to the edge of the bench.
  • Added the pink towel backdrop
I have a few more very minor tweaks that I may make. They wouldn't add to cost, and would make it a little more versatile/ give the user more options. Obviously, if these improvements sour your opinion of the product, we'll gladly refund your pre-order. We are trying to make the best, most versatile & cost effective product that we can, but I realize we probably won't make everyone happy.

Thanks,
Travis

Travis, love what you are doing. One comment.

If you move the front left leg further inside to accommodate a narrow bench, don't you lose the balanced geometry? Wouldn't the rear center leg now no longer be centered between the front 2 legs? Seems if you want to have that flexibility, you would need to move both legs in. Would require mirrored holes on both sides.

The weight will not be balanced, nor will it have to be. The gun will be to the side of rear leg. Hes just transfering as much weight to the other side (left in this case) to make it more stable. It's going to work great, it will be plenty stable while having better position of elevation screw.

What we've learned is that the speed screw in the middle of the two front two legs (within reason) is not critical. As long as the two front legs are in a line perpendicular to the muzzle and everything is level, elevation tracks vertically as it should. The same is required for a symmetrical set-up (the stock Sinclair rest). Where the weight is distributed is more important. That's what we addressed in the revisions. Moving the front left leg in to the right to accommodate an edge of bench set-up does not adversely affect the weight distribution.

Travis,
I’ve been thinking about making one of these.
Please look into adding an adjustable mount for a LabRadar.
David

Is this as simple as some drilled and tapped holes in my plate? Probably not, but if so, let me know the thread. Is is standard 1/4-20? Where would in need to be, etc.

Understood. But may I ask, is the spacing of the front left auxiliary hole locations critical? Can you set it up so that 1 (don't care which) of the 3 front left leg positions does center up the rear leg?
