Looking for Someone to Shoot With

I work most weekends and am looking for some people to shoot with during the week. I have a place on Eastern Long Island as well as an apartment in Manhattan so, Long Island (I can bring guests to Maidstone in East Hampton where I am a member), New Jersey (I am a member of Cherry Ridge Gun Club), Westchester or Orange County.

Looking to learn more about 6PPC Benchrest. Guns and loading equipment and supplies I have, just very little experience.

Howie Levy moved to Ohio.

Frank Marks is a Bullet Maker and a Benchrest shooter on Long Island Very nice Gentleman.

I talked to Frank, but he told me he is really not shooting at this time. I haven't found any Short Range Bench rest shooters at Brookhaven, but I probably can at South Jersey. Problem is that most activity is during the weekends, when I work.

wholman, were are you located? No Jet at the moment, but if you would ride in this, I could pick you up. It is pressurized and can carry us an a lot of equipment and I could give you a lesson on each leg of the trip.

Maybe I should do this in reverse. I have relatives in Ohio and my Daughter, Grand Daughter and Son-In-Law live in North Carolina. Though we are talking Shiloh and Chapel Hill. Ops, just realized that PKB is Mid-Ohio Valley Airport, but it is in West Virginia. I guess not too much out of the way.

I haven't found any Short Range Bench rest shooters at Brookhaven

They are there Brookhaven (Calverton)....but it could take a few trips to locate when. Fortunately you have some week days off as that is the time to find them. Weekends the place is/was a zoo. Week days get off the LIE and take a look. A bunch of us shot there in the 90's. Great sand dunes at 200 when you have something strange to shoot or sight in for a change of pace.

Woodbooger - Are you in Plymouth? Were can you shoot in that area. I will for sure be at the Shiloh FD Beef Roast in July.

I am not a member at the private club in Calverton. Brookhaven is open to the public. Calverton (what is known as "The Sand Pit") is not somewhere I will shoot. Too many Black Gun guys shooting up the place for my taste.

My home club, Maidstone in East Hampton, has 6 benches and target spots at 25/50/100/150 and 200 yards. I can take guests. No charge to shoot, just a $5.00 guest fee for the day, which I will cover and it is walking distance from the East Hampton Airport.

Hi Bob, on Saturday April 7th there is a benchrest Seminar at Cherry Ridge given by Harley Baker. It's 8AM thru 3PM, never starts on time. Bagels and coffee comes first. I attend all of them,(yearly) always learning something. If you want to attend please email Bob White at

Thanks for the note. I am already signed up for Bob White's seminar and clinic, with Harley Baker. I see Bob on a regular basis, am a member of Cherry Ridge and went last year. I wish (and have been asking Bob) if he could put together something a little more advanced as in talking with guys at last year's, there were a number of others that wanted to do something like that. Again, my biggest issue is that for the most part, I need to shoot during the week, rather than on Weekends.

I agree with shooting weekdays. Wednesday seems to be most of the match shooters favorite.
