Scope choice for 600 yd f class

I see some guys like the mil or moa hash reticles. Shooting at known distance at a target with known dimensions I would assume hold offs for windage would not be an issue with a plain cross hair or dot.

I don't know that I agree with this statement. I use those hash marks regularly to adjust for windage, mirage, etc. They allow me to duplicate my POA between rounds when conditions are the same. Also, I try to use POA and POI on previous shots, when adjusting for conditions to get a feel for what to do as conditions change.

I am still learning and try to use as many tools at my disposal as possible.

Not just known dimensions.
Clearly marked out with rings to aim at!!

Liking a busier reticle is one thing.
Pretty clearly not necessary.

I've been shooting matches where the wind builds during your string of fire. Several times it has gotten to where your center crosshair is off the target to hit center. The extra hashmarks give something else to aim with vs trying to hold off the target.

My opinion.
Sightron for the money can not be beat. Some can't beat them at twice the money.

I wouldnt take a step to vortex I'd take a leap to Kahles if/when I feel a need to upgrade.

I use them to dial in sighters. I find it helpful, but not necessary.

The 1/8 th dot can be a problem. At least for me. Wish I had just got a thin cross hair ret. That goes for 3/6/or1000

Having something extra in the reticle is nice for holding off. I like the NF DDR2 which doesn't have much more than a plain cross hair but it's enough for an extra reference.

I've got a Sightron SIII 8-32, two Sightron SIII 10-50's, and two Golden Eagles. I think the 1/4 MOA clicks on the 8-32 are more of an issue than the magnification. It's a very usable scope at 600 yards. If I were still using the 8-32 on my competition rifle, I'd send it in to Sightron to have the knobs changed. The S3 10-50 is a very good scope at a great price point. The Golden Eagle is also a very good scope at the same price point. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

One of my competition rifles has a Sightron SIII 10-50 in a 1/8min click scope and a LRMOA reticle swap. First one that Sightron did and a scope I have bugged them to standardise for years.

I typically shoot at 32X where the reticle subtension matches a 2 mph wind change for my load set up at 1000yds.

My other is a Sightron SVSS 10-50 LRMOA. The 1/4 min clicks haven't bugged me as much as I would have thought. Love the side focus feature. 34mm tube and very heavy.

Just got a Delta Optical 5-50X56 scope. Very interesting layout and features. 34mm tube and also on the heavy side... but I have set up my rifles to handle more scope weight then most.

Look forward to seeing how the Deltas track.

Check with the sponsors here- you can get a vortex for 40% off if youre mil/le. That puts a very good scope cheaper than others who arent half the scope.

Keep in mind the 40% is off MSRP not the price in the store. For the Vortex GE is mean the price is like $1139.40 plus shipping.
