I have 2- 7 SAUMs. One is a long action running 338 mags,180 hybrids, 63 grains H-1000 gives me 3050 fps. Was very accurate before the barrel gave up. Around 1600 rounds. The other is a short action that was shooting the Hornady 162s with 4831sc. At 3000. Very accurate as well till that barrel gave up. Easy mile shot on 24" steel.

H1000 today.
Topped out at 65.5 with a drop tube. 3020fps, no sign of pressure but I cant fit any more powder in. So far all 3 powders had a flat spot in velocity at 2950 fps. It will come down to h4831sc or H1000 around 2950 fps I would guess. Not bad for a 180 in 26" out of a short action.

try reloader 23 it really gets things moving in 7mm saum. Use 168 vlds and 3100fps should be reached. 250 freebore 28" stick

I want to try that one. I hit 3120 with 180s and a .050 freebore with rl26, thats movin!

Alex I have been shooting the Saum for 12 years or so it is the big BR. easy to tune and very accurate. Its the go to hunting and F-Class for me. intill these new 150 seirra's came out. now playing with the 6.5 SAUM. So far it's looking good. will be testing in 1000 yard match first sunday of February. You can get up to 3200fps whe n throated out right with H-1000. But it's good node seems to be around 3100fps

I'm playing with RL23 also. It's supposed to be as temp stable as RL16 which is reportedly more stable than H4350. I've been concentrating on the 162/168 and currently I'm playing with the 175Bergers. I'm seeing the potential of the combo. I was going to shoot more of them Saturday but I realized I was late on my range renewal payment so I don't have my pass for this year. Grr!

My top charge was 62.5 2995 fps and I got a very faint ejector mark.

Some cartridge brass starts extruding into bolt face cutouts at pressures close to proof loads. That's over SAAMI specs. Harder brass used in some loads won't show ejector marks until well over proof loads.

Proof loads are about 20 to 30 percent psi higher than SAAMI maximum average psi specs levels. The 7mm SAUM proof loads are around 90,000 psi.
