Reducing pictures

I can supply pictures too my FS adds but every time I try I get too large for the server How does one reduce the picture so that the server can process it Thanks Lou

There is a place for settings. Have to find it and reduce size.

if you use windows "live photo gallery" which is on most computers ,, double click the picture, when it opens, then go to the upper left and click on "edit organize or share" when that opens, find your picture again and then right click on picture and resize '

In Windows 7 I find the pictures via Computer on the drive attached to the computer, usually a Portable Device E:, after I plug it in to the USB port.

I open it in Windows Photo Viewer, then I open Microsoft Office Picture Manager. If you just save it after that to a different name it is usually reduced, but I normally Crop it, then Compress it with the Documents option, click OK, then save it to a new file name with a description of the item in the pic. This gives a decent sized photo that is usually greatly reduced is memory size from the original pic, loads easily, and is still large enough and usable to anyone trying to view what you're talking about.

Windows 10 and Smart Phones--I'm not the guy to help with those.

For a very fast, very easy to use resizer, I use Prish Resizer, a power toy that first came out on Windows XP. It works on all versions of Windows. Download it from the link.

To use it, you put your cursor on a picture or its file listing, then Right Click your mouse. Prish Resizer comes up as an option on the screen, select a size, and zap... you have resized the picture. It resizes, renames and places it next to your original pic, which remains unchanged. I generally use 1024 or 800 as the size for emails and postings on forums.

If you use a camera, you set it on your camera and it is done for all your photo thereafter.

If on android phone i use a free app. Appropriately called Photo and picture resizer. Works well enough.

We allow photos up to 500kb. Trust us, that is plenty big. This photo is 67 kb.

There are dozens of apps you can use on iPhones to resize photos. Or, you can email the photo to yourself and it will give you a choice of size.

You'll need photo editing software. Hit the 'resize' button and take it down to 480 x whatever they offer. Then save the new pic with a different name so you don't ruin the original.

I always have to resize my photos. I simply send the picture from my phone to my email. Open the photo in MS paint. Hit the resize button, and size it to 70% in width and height. Takes all of a minute.

There is an opensource photoshop alternative called gimp (GTK Image Manipulation Program). Opensource means it is free. Pretty advanced but they have versions for pretty much all operating systems and works really well once you get the hang of it. I just open all the photos I want to upload into gimp, resize to something not 4K wide then export as a jpg with a fair amount of compression. A lot of the issue with larger file size is because a lot of phone don't compress photos much at all...
