284 reamer print request

I was hoping one or two of you would be willing to share a copy of your 284 reamers. I ordered one from JGS a while back and I got one with a turn neck and .220 freebore to try the 195s. JGS makes a great reamer and I have used them in the past but I didn't think about it till now that I may have screwed up when I told them SAAMI spec was fine, the prints lists minimum chamber but I'm worrying now that the chamber may be too large and stretch the base of the brass too much and I wanted to compare it with some other prints.

Thanks

If that does become a problem, it's not your only one. A .220 freebore is W-A-Y too short for the 195s! You need at least a .275 and a .300 is better yet.. You will have a goodly amount of bearing surface below the neck / shoulder junction with that .220 freebore. That is a good freebore for the 180 Hybrids which have a relatively short bearing surface..

Thanks for the print copy guys.

Dots, my concern wasn't the base of the bullet in the case, pretty sure I'll settle on some 180is variety. The concern was the base of the case expanding too much, I've had that problem in the past with a Rem 700 in 308, you would get 2 reloads out of a piece of brass before you got separation right at the base but that must have been a Fri afternoon chamber job.

Getting the right teamer is best but Redding does make a small base body die for the 284 if you run into issues.

A small base die is a fix for a chamber that is too *tight* relative to the die.

He’s worried about the chamber being large at the bottom relative to brass. Especially with the 284 being a rebated cartridge and using a LRP. That’s part of the reason for the 284 being notorious for shooting primer pockets loose.

There I go speed reading again
