Jewell trigger for Remington 700

so, I am a Savage guy, but getting my first Remington 700 action. i want to put a Jewell on it, preferably their bench rest model without the bolt release or safety.

am i correct in that any of the Jewell triggers including the BR model will work on any Remington 700 action? i don't feel the need for the safety, but with the BR model without the bolt release, i assume bolt removal is done with a trigger pull?

any advantage to their varmint trigger, besides the potential bolt release and safety features, which apparently comes with a spring to bring the pull weight down to 1.5 ounces?

input appreciated

Any jewell trigger will work on a rem 700 that I know of( any jewell triggers not meant for mauser, savage...)But you need a seperate bolt release if using br trigger. Or trigger with bolt release and safety. Just pulling trigger will not work. Others will confirm or correct. New things happening every day sooo I could easily be waaay wrong!!! On my 3rd beer for the day...!!

You might want to consider having a side bolt release installed. I have jewels on several 700 actions and clones. Some have the bolt release and safety. They work great. I have the br model on a single shot Stiller. I also have a bottom safety model on a Kodiak. Again, they all work great. I picked a couple up on the sales forum and a couple from the Great Scott site. Most guys don't sell them after they use them. Good luck.

You can get the BR with a bolt release. I believe it is model BRBR. It is a drop in trigger. The side bolt release is a nice upgrade but requires machining to install. The HVR model is very nice as well. The main advantage is you can set it to hunting weight if needed. IMO if strictly a bench gun go for the BR. If any other use get the HVR.

Get the model with a bottom bolt release. It's the same trigger as the BR model but with the release and only a few dollars more. Beats using a pocket knife everytime you need to remove the bolt.

That's the ticket. Put one in my 30BR built around a Rem 700 action. That baby is not only deadly accurate, but that Jewell is tuned way down and a sneeze will SEND IT! And she's smooth as silk.

+2 Larry is the fellow to help you make the right decision.

Only thing else for input..... keep them cleaned out. Larry can tell you the correct way to do that too. WD

The BRBR(JT12) is what I use on my Bench (40x actions)guns. This model has the bolt release. Its a drop in fit.
For cleaning as per factory recommendation, use only lighter fluid. No lubrication is needed. LDS

Thanks all. Larry I will be ordering a JT12 from you in the near future

You can slide a small screwdriver or pin knife blade down the back of the reciever ring on the lh side and depress the bolt release. I would recommend the optional bottom release.
