Front rest

I know there has been a lot of discussion which is best.
But my question is what is one of the best heavy front rest I can buy right now with out waiting months?

Been shooting high power now for a year, i need to move up to F Open and get off the bipod.
Got a new dasher in the works.
 
My guess would be a Farley. There are a few places to get them if you look around. I think Bruno Shooter Supply had some a few weeks ago.

These are probably your best choices. The Farley will work fine with the Dasher. However if you plan to shoot the bigger calibers like the .284 and up, you will be better served with the SEB Neo. The ears on the Farley are only about 1/2" or so high and a rifle that has any torque will climb right out of it. The SEB is a much better design and the price point isn't much more than the Farley. I have a shooting friend that has/had a Farley, shoots the .284, and after shooting off the SEB, immediately purchased one. If you keep your eyes on the classifieds, one will pop up, but you cant wait, because it will be gone in 15 mins or less......
 
I was leaning towards a seb, or maybe a dolphin. My question is, still where to buy one new or used?

If you order a new Seb Neo, the wait will be about 6 months. I ordered 3 in January and received them in August. I also ordered a Seb Max at the same time and Ernie said that would be a years wait.
 
my only complaint with the NEO is temperature change and the rest gets sticky on the movement in the cold. Farley is worse. I shoot BR. and it is really noticeable but for F class the Neo and the Ratigan model is the pick of the litter. For 1000 yd. BR. the Sinclair competition is the one for it. ..jim

Yes, I have used the Mini and the Joy-Pod both. All have the same feel and are excellent. Both the Mini and the Neo have their own advantages. The Mini of course is lighter and this can be very important if you travel by air much. It is also easier to line up with the target, since the rest top can swivel to line it up. With the Neo you have to move the whole rest body for alignment. I have used a NEO since they first came out and I am getting too old to change I guess:)
 
I am a real fan of custom personalized stuff. Bobs attention to detail is second to none. My rest, on his site is the one with the ivory hand cut roses on it. Super solid rests that don't come with a joy stick or windage top. I am sure he could make one with either type of adjustment if that was your desire. I use mine for 1000BR where very little adjustment is needed IMO. Getting one of Bob's rests was a real experience from picking out the powder coat color from countless options to the design "theme" for the project to almost daily pics via E-mail on the progress. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but i am really happy with mine and wouldn't ever consider parting with it. I can't say that about my JJ Loh or Farley that i use for different applications. Best of luck with your decision......

I remember when u hated the joystick rests....the quote was do u see sticks or knobs on a lathe...something like that, man how times have changed...just giving shit jim remembering my mentoring conversations years ago
 
I kept trying to make them work, kind of like NF. 15-55 comp. scopes. Now if you would have read it I said they are the best for F class this a comfort thing with the stick and you don't have to reach for the knobs, and you don't shoot groups and tracking isn't that Important. I said the one best for bench rest and tracking is the Sinclair comp. the knobs are both in your hand at the same time. If your shooting groups in short range I use the speed screw at long range a 1/2-20 leg same as the windage screw. for score shooting the Ratigan model NEO is the smoothest it uses weights to hold the rifle not the spring. In the cold the NEO. gets sticky and hard to get precise adjustments where the screws on the Sinclair don't....... I also shoot a March now..... lol..... Jim
