Glock 42 Slide Release

I wasn't sure which topic heading to post this under so forgive me in advance. I got my mother a brand new G42 (.380ACP) for personal protection. The slide release button (probably not the correct term) is pretty stiff and pretty small, making it hard to get a decent grip on it with your thumb to release the slide when putting a magazine in, especially for an older lady. Is there an aftermarket release thats a little bigger and easier to use or will it wear in with more use?

You can use anything but he shows a belt buckle. In your house a table works great. I was in a training course when I was in the USMC and fell so hard I was unable to stop or brace my self. In the fall I jacked up my left hand (I am left handed) jammed the M9 and landed with a boot right in front of me. So I racked it on my boot and fired. I was praised and yelled at by the same guy at the same guy. I thought it was cool but I limped longer than I would have liked to. I did have to shoot right handed as I pealed the skin on my middle and trigger finger.

I had been stepping on brass all day but that time it was just enough to make all the planning just go away. I am very lucky I did not shoot my self in the fall as I was actively shooting.

Sir, GLOCK calls the lever a slide stop not a slide release. Its purpose is simply to keep slide locked to rear after last round in magazine has been fired. Using the lever to release slide requires fine motor skills which deteriorate under stress. As apposed to gross motor skills needed to as People stated above just grab slide pull a 2/16th of an inch to the rear and let the slide go.
Best way I have found is just grab the top and back of the slide palm down with your support hand thumb towards your chest, pull to the rear while pushing forward with your hand that is gripping the frame of pistol and let go.

I believe the table/boot trick People is referring to is placing the rear sight against the heel of your boot or the edge of a table and pressing down on the grip of the pistol. Image you have a disabled hand during an engagement and you need to reload or clear the weapon to stay in fight.

Hope this helps.

For what its worth, I have been carrying a GLOCK pistol (G19) full time since 1995 in just about every crap hole on earth. Everyone I truly care about has received one from me and I am sure it will serve your Mother well.

+1 on this.. Glocks are really designed to rack the slide by pulling on it instead of useing the slide stop...
